Energy plays a vital role in the development of overall economy of the state. Adequate and reliable availability of power is indispensable for sustainable growth of the economy. Energy plays an important role as a factor of production and consumer item also. In order to run households in rural and urban areas, to achieve full mechanization of agriculture, rapid industrialization and efficient transportation, it is necessary to tap all the resources of energy to meet the rising demand. Unless new sources of energy are tapped, energy crisis may lead to retardation in economic growth.
