I encourage students to continue working through the Tradition of Excellence book, with a focus on developing a clear and consistent sound (tone) one page at a time. Playing along with the accompaniment provided with the book is a wonderful way to proceed. The details and instructions for FREE downloading are provided inside the back cover of the book if this has not been done already. The backing tracks allow students to hear their parts played, and also to play along with a band. This enhances individual learning and develops an improved internal sense of timing, intonation, pitch and rhythm. Students should endeavour to master one page a week in the early stages, and as they progress can challenge themselves to see if they can conquer two pages per week.
