It includes places, things, objects, activities, and practices such as storytelling, rituals, songs, and traditional domestic pursuits.” (Doug Olynyk) A Heritage Management Plan is a document that illustrates why the heritage of a community is valued and by whom. It provides the community with guidance on how to look after and preserve its heritage resources for present and future generations to enjoy. Heritage resources are tangible evidence of the community’s history. This plan deals with cultural and natural heritage resources within Carcross as defined by the boundaries of the approved Local Area Plan (figure 1). This does not mean that there are not cultural and heritage values outside the community
