Southwest Middle School 8th Grade GradVenture at Universal Studios Orlando Friday, May 8, 2020 Cost: Approximately $135 Travel Arrangements • Bus Departs SWMS at 3:15PM • Students will not be permitted to “check-out” of school the day of the event • Students that are absent from school that day will not be permitted to attend • The busses will arrive back at SWMS at approximately 1:30 AM • Please have rides waiting for our return Dress Code • No JEANS of any kind for anyone – khaki type pants, cargo pants, Dockers, etc. are recommended • Not Allowed: Skirts, PE Shorts, board shorts, swimwear, jogging suits, sweatpants, basketball shorts, etc. • No backless shoes and No Hats • No PSP’s (personal gaming systems) • You must wear your SWMS GradVenture t-shirt – NO WRITING OR ALTERING OF THE T-SHIRT IS PERMITTED • Shorts must be NO SHORTER THAN 6 inches above the knee. NO LOW RIDING OR BAGGY CLOTHES PERMITTED What does your ticket get you? • Transportation • T-Shirt • Admission • Meal • Rides and Attractions – Two Parks (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure) - Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, Shrek 4-D, Incredible Hulk Coaster, Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, Dueling Dragons, and much much more! • Entertainment – DJ’s, Dance Zones, Karaoke, Street Entertainment Once at the park • Students are free to move about with their friends • If you need to locate any school personnel, ask a park attendant • Students are required to adhere to the times and meeting locations established by the chaperones What can I bring? • Backpacks are not permitted • Girls can bring purses BUT THEY CANNOT BE LARGER THAN 81/2” BY 11”. All items will be searched at the gate • Cell phones, ear buds, cameras, money, purses, wallets, etc. are the responsibility of the students • Busses will not be locked – carry all valuables with you • All students must adhere to School Board Policies – Disciplinary Action will result if any violation that occurs • All Students And Student Belongings Are Subject To Search Criteria to Attend GradVenture • Beginning January 2019 No Discipline Referrals for fighting, bullying, chronic disruption, or other serious infractions resulting in Out of School Suspension or More than One Incident Resulting in an In School Suspension • Beginning January 2019 No Bus Referrals resulting in Bus Suspensions • A yearlong minimum 62% grade average in all academics and 2 out of three electives (Based on requirements for Promotion in Brevard County Student Progression Plan) at time of trip • 2nd semester -No more than 7 unexcused absences Ticket Sale Information Tickets are expected to go on sale in February 2020 Note: Tickets are deemed non-refundable by the company so if a student is later determined ineligible to attend or not present the day of the trip then he/she forfeits the ticket. .
