The 2012 Pennsylvania Library Statistics publication includes data from public libraries and state-supported institution libraries. For public libraries that operate on a July-June fiscal year, the data is taken from the 2011-2012 Public Library Annual Reports. For all other public libraries, the data is for the year 2012. This publication represents a summary of library statistics and tables useful to library directors, administrators and state and local elected officials. The statistics can assist in assessing the activity and resources of individual libraries and comparing them with libraries of similar size or with state averages. Statistical data can suggest patterns and trends and express areas of need or attention. Public libraries are organized into two main categories: State Aided and Non-State Aided libraries. The data beginning on Page 2 represents the libraries that meet state standards and earn state aid. The data beginning on Page 68 represents libraries that are not earning state aid (Non-State Aided) because they either do not meet the standards or choose not to apply. Beginning on Page 78, data from selected categories are summarized by District Library Center and Library System and combined into an overall total. Both public library data sections organize libraries into counties and then alphabetically by library name. Libraries providing service within a federated library system structure are identified by an “M” (member) preceding the library name. The administrative headquarters of the system is identified by an “H” (headquarters). All systems are county based. A System Summary section has been added to provide totals for each (federated) system. 2012 PENNSYLVANIA PUBLIC LIBRARY STATISTICS PAGE 2 ANALYSIS OF REVENUE, EXPENDITURES AND SERVICES OF STATE AIDED LIBRARIES PART I HOURS & STAFF LIBRARIES POPULA- HOURS TOTAL PROFES- LIBRARIAN OTHER VOLUN- BY COUNTY TION OPEN REGIS- SIONAL PAID TEER SERVED WEEKLY TRATION STAFF STAFF STAFF STAFF 1 H ADAMS COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM
