Amin Ya Rabbal „Alamin. viii ABSTRAK Nama : Yuri Aprilianis NIM : TE.151644 Jurusan : Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Judul : The Effect of Numbered Heads Together Technique on Students‟ Speaking Skill Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggunaan teknik Numbered Heads Together pada kemampuan berbicara Bahasa Inggris siswa di MAN 2 Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah diajarkan menggunakan teknik Numbered Heads Together dan untuk menemukan perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik Numbered Heads Together dan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimental. Subjek peneletian berjumlah 60 siswa yang mana 30 siswa berasal dari kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa berasal dari kelas control. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan test dalam pretest dan post-test. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah speaking test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik Numbered Heads Together berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa. Hal ini bisa dilihat pada hasil paired sample test and independent samples test. Hasil dari rata-rata kelompok yang sama yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik NHT mendapatkan nilai 0.000 yang mana dapat dilihat dari kriteria hipotesis jika hasil lebih rendah dari 0.05 berarti Ha diterima. Dan hasil dari independent sample test menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan rata-rata adalah 18.600 dan signifikan 2-tailed ≤ 0.05 (0.000 ≤ 0.05). Hal tersebut dapat dilihat bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan efek yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa antar siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik Numbered Head Together dan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik konvensional di MAN 2 Kota Jambi. Kata Kunci : Numbered Heads Together, Teknik Pembelajaran, Kemampuan Berbicara. ix ABSTRACT Name : Yuri Aprilianis Student’s ID : TE.151644 Subject : English Education Program Title : The Effect of Numbered Heads Together Technique on Students’ Speaking Skill Abstract This study discussed about using Numbered heads together technique on students’ speaking skill at MAN 2 Kota Jambi. The goals of the research are to find out the effect of students’ speaking skill after being taught by using Numbered Heads Together (NHT) technique and to find out the significance different between students’ who are taught by using Numbered Heads Together (NHT) technique and those who are not. This research used quasi experimental method with quantitative approach. Samples of the research were 60 students which experimental class was 30 students and control class 30 students. The data collection is used pretest and posttest. Data analysis is used speaking test. The result of this research shows that applying NHT technique affected on students’ speaking skill. It can be seen at paired sample test and independent sample test. The result of the average students’ score from the same group who taught by using NHT technique got score 0.000 which can be seen from criteria of hypotheses if the score lower than 0.05 it means Ha is accepted. And the result of independent sample test shows that the mean of difference was 18.600 and the significant 2-tailed ≤ 0.05 (0.000 ≤ 0.05). It can be seen there are difference effect of students’ speaking skill between experimental and control class. To sum up, it can be concluded that there was any difference significant effect of students’ speaking skill between students who were taught by using Numbered Heads Together technique and students who were taught by using conventional technique at MAN 2 Kota Jambi.
