For more than 30 years, the shrimp boil has been a cherished occasion for a consistent crowd of roughly 1,000 people each year, with buckets upon buckets of shrimp, dancing, music and its renowned shrimp-eating contest. Along with the entertainment and food, this year’s event was particularly special as the chamber honored Dexter Guillory of Louisiana-based Riceland Crawfish to mark the fact that, after 22 years boiling shrimp for the event, he was retiring when the evening was done.
