Volunteer Opportunities Ways to Give Critter Camps

Fostering a caring community for animals by providing shelter, advancing animal welfare, and promoting the bond between animals and humans through innovative programs, education and service. Maclean Animal Adoption Center F all/Winter 2016 Volunteer Ways to Give Critter Camps 3 Opportunities 4 7 Enhancing compassion through education Director’s note This year at the Maclean Animal Adoption Center (MAAC) yields many heartwarming stories personifying hope, survival, reunions and unconditional love. What happens as a result of the services we provide is what makes the world a better place. Miracles occur daily. To gain a better understanding of how, I ask that you picture the following: The worried eyes of a cat or dog entering our facility – he or she may have an aching heart or body and are likely unsure of what is ahead. The noises, scents, and visions are new and result in stress. The MAAC staff and volunteers are tasked with improving its life, healing its physical ailments and mending its broken heart. Now imagine: The happy heart and excited eyes of this same cat or dog as they leave our facility, reunited with their owner or given a second chance to provide and receive love through a new family. The emotionally and physically taxing yet rewarding work performed at the MAAC is made possible by the dedication and hard work of the MAAC staff, caring volunteers, concerned citizens, Board of Trustee members and generous donors, as well as the clients. This year my son, Roy, and I were given the gift of Tom Tom, a dog surrendered at the MAAC. He stole my heart the moment I looked into his eyes. Tom Tom provides more love and joy to my son and myself than could be purchased with all of the money in the world. I want this happiness for everyone and know that the blessings brought to people by pets are beyond compare. The MAAC must continue to facilitate this happiness. Our organization is constantly working to improve our processes and increase community education. We save the lives of animals and offer a source of the unconditional love from a cat or dog to people of all ages. Through humane education, we continue to improve animal welfare for future generations. Companion animals are cherished members of our families. With your support, we can continue to grow and improve the vital services we facilitate and foster special pet-guardian relationships. By building new relationships and strengthening existing ones, we can save additional animal lives and enable more people to welcome animal companions into their family. The donations of time and money are what allows us to continue to offer our services to the wonderful community of Great Falls and North Central Montana. Thanks once again for your incredible support this past year. Every day we strive to be good stewards of the gifts we receive and pull together for the common, greater purpose of helping animals who can’t help themselves. Just like an extended family, we rely on the community at large, including generous donors, patrons and caring volunteers for support. Our core purpose is valuable; facilitating the bond between pets and people … it is what we do at the Center. It is incumbent on all of us to help sustain our mission of providing temporary shelter to cats and dogs in need, improving animal welfare through humane education and continuing to assist in any way possible, insuring more pets and people are helped. The cost to continue our work exceeds what we earn from the services we provide. The MAAC needs continued funding from donors whose past support brought us to where we are now and future gifts will help us to continue our valuable services. Throughout the history of the Animal Foundation of Great Falls, we’ve been willing to take risks, knowing that when we succeed, we can impact more lives, save more animals and create change in our community. This important work must continue! Together we can make a positive difference, and I look forward to your ongoing commitment to our animal friends. Thank you for your generosity and dedication to this remarkable organization. Please visit us soon. I ask that you give from your heart so that we can to enhance compassion through education!
