This video news release includes: - Sound bites with IOC President Thomas Bach on the 2022 bid process - Sound bites with the bid leaders from Almaty and Beijing - Shots of each delegation submitting their candidature files nterview - IOC President Thomas Bach: “We have two very strong candidates with two very different approaches. We have Almaty as a winter sport centre with many facilities already existing and a great tradition in winter sport for decades with world renowned sports facilities and we have Beijing with a vision to make winter sports accessible for hundreds of millions of people in Beijing and the region, so two really fascinating projects. It will be really good competition between these two candidates. We are somehow in the middle of a procedure but we will in agreement with the two candidate cities already apply the first of the reforms which have been approved by the IOC members just very recently in Monaco. So this will be part of our ongoing consultations with the candidate cities. As the IOC is always open to give advice and to consult in order to make the two candidatures as strong as possible. “ Almaty delegation with Mrs Zauresh Amanzholova (Vice Mayor of Almaty City) and Mr Timur Dossymbetov Secretary General, National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan gives Almaty candidatery file to Mr Christophe Duby (Executive Director for Olympic Games) and Mrs Jacqueline Barrett (Head of Olympic Bid City Coordination) with handshakes First family photo with Mrs Zauresh Amanzholova (Vice Mayor of Almaty City) and Mr Timur Dossymbetov Secretary General, National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Family photo Almaty delegation IOC Commission Room – with Mr Christophe Dubi (Executive Director for Olympic Games) IOC Commission room with Almaty delegation IOC Commission room close up Almaty candidature file IOC Commission room wide shot ITW Mrs Zauresh Amanzholova (Vice Mayor of Almaty City) «This is an historic opportunity for Almaty and for Kazakhstan. Our 2022 Candidature File is a chance for the world to experience what we have always known: Almaty is a modern, beautiful city graced with pristine mountains and ideal winter weather - it is a city perfectly suited to host an intimate, accessible Winter Games with lots of NATURAL snow! Of course for our country, hosting the 2022 Games will be a huge stimulus because today Almaty is one of the most beautiful cities in our country. And we fully support Olympic Agenda 2020 and all initiatives undertaken by the IOC. ITW Mr Timur Dossymbetov Secretary General, National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan « Sustainable development and legacy are very important for us. We created a new concept according to the new rules of the IOC and we decided that our Games should be financially reasonable - our non-OCOG budget will be only 10 % of the one of Sochi. It would be a great economy because almost 60% of our venues needed for the Games already exist. What we will build will be the Olympic Village, the media village. All of these constructions will be used by the public of Almaty after the Games. The ‘Olympic City’ will become a new district of the city for the people of Almaty. And it will be a very modern district with a great transport infrastructure, very convenient roads and apartments. We want to ensure that sport facilities are used for the future generations especially because 40% of our population are under 24. We have many students in our city and we want all our sports venues to be used for the development of winter sports in Almaty.
