Sabha president, office bearers hold talks with tribal Sahitya Sabha counterparts Asam Sahitya Sabha President, Vice president & Ganaral Secretary along with Presidents & other office bearers of tribal Sahitya Sabha bodies A team of Asam Sahitya Sabha office bearers led by president Dr Kuladhar Saikia held an intimate talks with the president, general secretary and representatives of seven tribal Sahitya Sabha bodies - such as, Missing Sahitya Sabha, Garo Sahitya Sabha, Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabhas, Assam, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dimasa Sahitya Sabha, Tiwa Sahitya Sabha and Karbi Sahitya Sabha - at the Sabha's Guwahati office on February 4. All the persons of eminent present at the session discussed a series of topics related to upliftment of language, literature and culture of Assamese and ethno-linguistic communities of Assam in a congenial ambience and appreciated Asam Sahitya Sabha's such an effort to organise this interactive session. The proceedings began with presentation of the Sabha anthem ' Chira Chenehi Mor Bhasha Janani... ' followed general secretary Jadab Chandra Sarma's welcome speech. President Dr Saikia, in his opening remark, said that Asam Sahitya Sabha is willing to march ahead with joining hands along with all the tribal Sahitya Sabha bodies to work for the development of language-literature- culture and that is why this intimate session has been organised. Of the various topics discussed at the meeting, mention may be made of infrastructure development of all the mother language schools of Assam, proper implementation of New Education Policy and introduction of a flawless employment policy by the state government to ensure 100 per cent employment facility to the indigenous educated unemployed youths. All there present in the meeting opined that the state government should be pressurised to take adequate action in these three aspects and also sought necessary steps from the concerned government authorities for preservation of various elements of traditional knowledge skills among the people of various ethno-linguistic communities of Assam. Seeking the state government's initiative to construct a central library in Guwahati for protection and preservation of a number of precious books published in various tribal languages of Assam, Dr Kuladhar Saikia said that translation of such precious books from one language to another among the Assamese and other tribal languages of Assam is the best means for literary- cultural exchange. Asam Sahitya Sabha will take up such means shortly, said Dr Saikia and appealed to all the tribal Sahitya Sabha bodies to initiate such planning. Two other matters discussed in the meeting are digitisation of various tribal language books for preservation and publishing multi-lingual dictionary. At the end, Dr Saikia disclosed that Asam Sahitya Sabha will soon launch a series of cultural programmes titled 'Samprity' aiming at strengthening the age-old bond of communal harmony and sense of brotherhood among the people of various ethno-linguistic communities of Assam. 0000.
