Offensive Coaching Staff Making History -- Longest Game in Cowboy History: Last Saturday’s 40-34, triple Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks overtime victory over Northern Illinois was one of the most memorable in Wyoming history. Brent Vigen (North Dakota State ‘98) The game was the longest in school history at 4 hours and 14 minutes. It eclipsed a 53-45 Running Backs/Fullbacks triple overtime Wyoming victory over UNLV on Nov. 6, 2004 in Las Vegas. That 2004 win lasted 4 Mike Bath (Miami of Ohio ‘01) hours and three minutes. Offensive Line Thunderstorms forced a one hour and 43-minute delay prior to the opening kickoff against Scott Fuchs (North Dakota State ‘95) Northern Illinois. The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 8:37 p.m., but was delayed until Wide Receivers 10:20 p.m., which made it the latest kickoff in Wyoming Football history. The game ended at 2:34 Mike Grant (Nebraska ‘93) a.m., making it the latest finish to a game in Cowboy history. Defensive Coaching Staff Balanced Offense: A more balanced offense was something the Wyoming Cowboys were Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers striving for entering the 2016 season, and in the season opener against Northern Illinois they Steve Stanard (Nebraska ‘89) accomplished that. The Pokes rushed for 243 yards versus NIU and threw for 245 yards for a total Defensive Ends/Special Teams of 488 yards of total offense.
