This Sunday we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, called “Gaudete” (rejoice) Sunday since we get clos- er and closer to the birth of Christ. Saint Paul exhorts us, “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all cir- cumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” In our life, we can always rejoice that Jesus has come to save us and guide us to our heavenly home. This is the real reason for the season. I rejoice at how God constantly works through all of you in your great generosity to others and the parish. In the past weeks, we have had a lot of opportunities to give and you all have shown your charitable hearts. Thank you for helping with… Box of Joy: We are gifting almost 200 boxes to needy children in Latin America. Tree Ornaments: You helped the Knight of Columbus raise $1,000 for the parish (and you got a nice new ornament!) Mustard Seed: Father Gregory from Mustard Seed called me personally to thank me and all of you for your support. He will also be on EWTN nightly news shortly to share the great work he is doing. Food Pantry Collection: We are in the process of doing a special collection to help the needy in our area. You have helped keep our pantry going since March! Angel Tree: We are well on our way to helping 101 children get gifts this Christmas. Poor Box/St. Vincent de Paul: So many of you give week after week to the poor box which supports the amazing work of our St. Vincent de Paul Society which is clothing, feeding and helping provide rent and utilities (and more) to the needy in our area. Cardboard Boxes: Can you believe we have a good use for all those boxes at Christmas! Thanks for past and future collections.
