HeLIUM ANALYZER The ATOMOX HeLIUM ANALYZER® (Image) operates by comparing the thermal conductivity of the sample gas to the thermal conductivity of a reference gas housed in a sealed cell. This technique to determine helium was first reported in the scientific literature in 1908 and is still used today. Improvisation (e.g. "rule of thumb", "fudge factor") and experimentation are no longer necessary when mixing gases with helium. Knowing the helium content of a mix eliminates an unknown and will allow the user to keep better track of their gas blending skills. Having an accurate (within 1%) reading of the helium content allows better decompression planning, and can enhance diver safety. The greatest benefit of the analyzer will be realized in gas blending operations. The analyzer will allow the use of continuous gas blending of trimix when combined with an oxygen analyzer. FEATURES: • The unit can be used for mixes of N2/O2 (Air) and He. • Determines volumetric helium content of 0% to 100% with an error of +/- 1%. • Simple hands-free operation. • The gas mixture is continuously sampled and updated every second, after the initial warm-up period. • Powered by rechargeable NiMH battery pack that provides 12+ hours of operation. • Can also be powered with a supplied DC power supply (wall transformer) even when the battery pack is being charged. • The sensor is packaged as a complete, flameproof gas detection head in a stainless steel enclosure. A high oxygen content gas (up to 100%) will not explode or ignite. • The sensor is extremely robust, once calibrated it rarely falls out of calibration and needs little to no maintenance. • The expected life of the sensor is greater than 10 years. • The ambient operating temperature range is 5oC to 40oC, (41oF to 104oF); Storage temperature is -20oC to 60oC (-4oF to 140oF). • The total unit is enclosed in a rugged Pelican 1150 case and is easily portable. The outside dimensions of the case are 7.75W x 9.25L x 4.5H. .
