Dated this 21st March 2019 Director of Law & Assurance County Hall Chichester TRO/chs9025/RC WEST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL ((CHICHESTER) (PARKING PLACES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2010) (STANE STREET AMENDMENT) ORDER 201* STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR PROPOSING TO MAKE THE ORDER The County Council in exercise of their powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, propose to make a permanent Order the effect of which will be to introduce:- (i) lengths of prohibition of waiting at any time (double yellow lines) on the south and south-eastern sides of Stane Street and in and around the junctions of Stane Street with Old Arundel Road, Stane Street Access Road, Claypit Lane and the Access to Rolls Royce Motors (ii) a bus stop clearway on the southern side of Stane Street east of the Access to Rolls Royce Motors. As a community highway improvement scheme West Sussex County Council are converting the existing footway on the south and south-eastern side of Stane Street into a shared use cycleway. To achieve the required 3 metres width for a shared used cycleway some localised carriageway narrowing is required. To prohibit vehicles from parking on the cycleway so as to obstruct its use it is proposed to introduce double yellow lines along the route. It is also intended to introduce double yellow lines in and around the junctions along Stane Street. There is a bus stop clearway east of the Access to Rolls Royce Motors that is parallel to the cycle route and the opportunity is being taken to formalise it in the Order. The Order is proposed to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the roads or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, and to facilitate the safe passage of traffic.
