Introduction The Department of Physics at the University of San Francisco, as an integral part of a Jesuit institution, inherits a long and rich tradition in education and scholarly work, founded upon the interrelated themes of Jesuit education: a focus on moral reflection, on teaching for social justice, and on the liberal treatment of subject matter.
