We source from the country's most renowned wine regions. In South Australia, we are blessed with a superb collection of varied terrior, ancient soils and varied climatic conditions provide wonderful possibilities for spectacular fruit and opportunities for our winemakers. From elegant cool climate Riesling of the Clare Valley to full bodied Shiraz of the more temperate Barossa Valley, our winemakers pay meticulous attention to fruit in the vineyard ensuring our wines are both expressive and outstanding examples of variety and region. It is our mission to showcase the magnificent wines that South Australia has to offer the world. page 3 2 Our Vineyard Locations Our vineyards are located in Barossa, Riverland and McLaren Vale. Therefore, we have strict vineyard selection and constant monitoring throughout the growing season to ensure that the picked grapes meet the high standards required for our wines. We apply different trellising methodology in our vineyards, depending on the variety and individual nuances of each vineyard. Soil management is another factor to which we have attached great importance and where ever possible we use organic or biological options. We also reduce cultivation to reserve soil moisture. Vintage through our South Australian vineyards usually begins in early February and ends in late April. Our aim is to make superior wines for our customers, great importance is placed on preserving regional and varietal character. Care is taken to separate individual sections of the vineyards all the way through the winemaking process to ensure we have the widest possible array of options when it comes to putting together final blends. The perfect berries are then cold soaked in open fermenters to extract maximum colour, the process of fermentation is allowed to occur naturally with wild yeasts wherever possible. Depending on the varieties, a combination of French and or American oak is carefully selected by our winemakers to mature the wines so as to complement and enhance their complexity and flavour. page 7 4 Sirius Winemakers Tim Geddes, Chief Winemaker, has more than 20 years winemaking experience in both Australia and New Zealand. His extensive experience includes various Chief Winemaking roles in many well-known wineries of New Zealand. In 2000, he came to Australia and acted as consultant for several renowned wineries at Hunter Valley, Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale where he fell in love with wines of South Australia and decided to settle. Through his 20 year winemaking career, he has been highly awarded, winning 12 trophies and multiple gold medals. Tim's long-term focus has been on ensuring the quality and credibility of the Sirius wines and crafting a large range of wines for our customers. 5 Buyers Own Brand In addition to our own wine labels, Sirius Transnational can help you establish your own Private Labels or Buyers Own Brand. Private Label wines are wine labels which you own and have complete control over using the wine we produce, thus giving you complete control over pricing, marketing and distribution. We can provide a range of wines at different price points, ranging from entry level wines to rare super premium wines. page 9 6 Our Wine Sirius Range These are our classic range of wines, crafted for immediate enjoyment. Our Classic range wines are made from grapes grown on select vineyards across South Australia. With each wine in the range we ensure varietal character is preserved along with representing the unique terrior that our vineyards offer. Our winemakers have chosen grapes from multi-regions and vineyards to contribute to these blends which are uniquely Australian. We believe that our customers benefit greatly from our intimate knowledge of the varieties and vineyards that are selected for these blends. Our decision to blend across vineyards and varieties along with our diligence in the vineyard result in consistent quality wines from year to year with minimal vintage variation. White Label Ortus white label is our principal label, highlighting the unique style of South Australia's major grape-producing areas. Our winemaker has carefully selected beautiful fruit from our vineyards around the state that will compliment and create the essence of South Australia. Our winemaking team pay close attention to vineyard health and then employ a mix of modern and old world winemaking techniques to highlight the pure fruit quality. Our oak regime is sensitive to the individuality of each parcel to maintain varietal and regional integrity. page 11 Black Label Ortus Black Label range of wines embody the consistent high quality and terrior of our special vineyards. Our winemakers have carefully selected premium vineyards in Barossa and Coonawarra, in order to create a range of wines that are exciting and unique. Gentle fruit handling and oak barrel maturation have created wines of mouth-watering fruitiness coupled with finesses, complexity and flawless structure. These powerful yet beautifully integrated wines will cellar for more than 10 years. Luxury The Ortus Luxury Series is a benchmark against which all other wines are measured. It demonstrates the viticultural excellence and subtle yet superb winemaking techniques in which we take great pride. The beautiful Barossa Valley vineyard from which the fruit is sourced, has some of the oldest producing vines around the world. The vines are more than one hundred years old, a rare age due to the scourge of phylloxera that plagued most of the world in the 1850's and 1970's. These precious vines only yeild a very small crop, however the quality is excellent and flavour intense. The fruit is hand-picked and passed across a sorting table, with great attention given to each berry, prior to crushing into open fermenters. The ferments are hand plunged four times daily and once finished they are pressed off into a blend of old and new French oak for maturation. The result is a wine of great finesse and impeccable flavour. page 13 7 Our Wine Portfolio: Armstrong Wines Armstrong Vineyards is located in the Grampians region in the State of Victoria. Armstrong Vineyards, first planted in 1989, is the love-child of Loretta and Tony Royal - former Seppelt Senior winemaker, former CEO of Seguin Moreau Australia (the world's largest French cooperage), and now CEO and joint owner of Portavin Integrated Services. Furthermore, he is also a well known wine judge of domestic and international wine shows. Tony's experiences and innovations in winemaking techniques coupled with his knowledge in the use of fine grained French oak barrels combine to produce one of the most outstanding quality wines in Australia. Armstrong Shiraz Only the best quality grapes from the vineyard go into the Armstrong wines. Winemaking technique and of course Seguin Moreau fine grained French oak have resulted in a complex palate structure, intense fruit and excellent smoky vanillin oak integration. Fine, delicate tannins combined with a long and lingering back palate have provided distinctive style to be enjoyed. page 15 7 Our Wine Portfolio: Halifax Wines The vineyard land was first granted to George Beaumont Esquire of Halifax England in 1840 – over 170 years ago. The winemaker, Peter Butcher, selected this vineyard for its location. The gently sloping vineyard is planted on soils which are predominately brown Urrbrae loam over red clay and stratas of ancient river bed shale. The proximity to the ocean and the hills together with the prevailing cool winds, moderate the normally warm to hot summers. The quality of the grapes has been recognized by Penfolds, who have declared the vineyard “A” grade and buy the grapes for the top of their range wines. The grapes are also in the Halifax Shiraz and Halifax Ad Lib. Peter Butcher's influence is France's Rhone Valley and his wines reflect this elegant style with great expression, texture and concentration.
