Situation Report -1: Landslide and Flood in Maharashtra A. Pune Landslide: Situation Report A massive landslide occurred in Malin village in Ambegaon tehsil of Pune, as heavy downpour loosened earth and dislodged rocks and boulders. Heavy rain has continued to lash the region over the past four days and heavy rain lashed in the past 24 hrs over the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Number of causalities reported 20 (the exact number of causalities is not known as the rescue operation is going on and likely to increase) Number of people rescued alive till noon 2 Number of people trapped under the debris Over 100 Number of houses buried Approx. 40 houses B. Response from Government and Humanitarian Agencies The district administration has activated the search and rescue operations. Rescue operations are on and a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been rushed from the neighbouring Talegaon camp to the village The local residents have begun the work of clearing the debris. About 30 ambulances have been rushed from adjoining areas to extend medical help to the victims. Earth moving equipment from government and private parties were being pressed into service. Pune Municipal Corporation, fire brigade, PCMC are also reached on site. C. Mumbai Flood: Situation Report Due to heavy rainfall, nearly 50 villages in the Thane district were cut off from the Tehsil headquarters and two bridges remained submerged as heavy rain continued to lash. Meanwhile around 150 villages along the Surya River in Palghar Taluka have been put on alert this morning for discharge of 4500 Cusec water from a dam in the river. Worst affected areas Palghar, Vasai, Dahanu and Vikramgadh, Status of bridges Maswan bridge on the Palghar-Manor road and the bridge between Murbad and Rahta have submerged.
