Year 7 Remote Guys and Guardians Evening Thursday 27th May, 19.00 – 20.00. Dear Parents/Guardians, I would like to invite you to our 'Guys and Guardians Evening' for Y7 boys and parents/guardians. This is an information evening about the physical and emotional aspects of puberty. This will be carried out remotely, with all Year 7 boys being invited to a Microsoft Teams meeting on Thursday evening. The educator, Jo Radnor from Bedfordshire's iCaSH team, has been visiting the school for several years now. She runs the session with input from the boys, confirming the facts and dispelling the myths and rumours about puberty. The changes that occur to both boys and girls are covered during the session. As well as to educate the boys, another aim of this session is to encourage an open dialogue between parents and boys during what can be a challenging time. With that in mind, please sit with your sons through the evening and encourage them to offer their opinions (when requested) through the Teams chat function. This session has proved to be very popular in the past and feedback from parents and boys has been very positive: From Parents: ‘Excellent, informative and pitched at the right level.’ ‘It exceeded my expectations.’ ‘It was great that the talk was to the boys and parents were secondary – but involved appropriately.’ ‘The evening was very important and a way to help parents to speak to their child.’ From Students: ‘Jo was very good at talking about everything and she didn’t back away from the embarrassing words.
