We hope you have a great show! You are participating in an elite licensed show! The Oregon High Desert Classics is hon- ored with the designation of a USEF Heritage Competition. We are also excited to be the host of the $10,000 USHJA Green Initiative Regional Championships again in 2020. The Oregon High Desert Classics is the primary fundraiser for J Bar J Youth Services in Central Oregon. All funds from this horse show benefit J Bar J Youth Services and the programs it supports. J Bar J offers a continuum of services to facilitate positive change for youth. Our job is to teach kids how to change critical thinking errors and become proud, productive members of the community. Our outcomes are strong. Sincere Thank You to all the sponsors, competitors, owners, groomers and cheerleaders for making the High Desert Classics the best show with the strongest mis- sion. More than ever, your enthusiasm and support are very much appreciated! Sincerely, Stephanie Alvstad CEO and President J Bar J Youth Services Oregon High Desert Classics 2020 4 ww.oregonhighdesertclassics.org OHDC & COVID-19 Things will be different this year. Thank you for bearing with us as we adjust to changes. As this year’s Oregon High Desert Classics approach, maintaining safety during COVID-19 is a great responsibility we are aware of and proactively planning for. The US Equestrian Federation has suspended all events through May 31st. They are also creating safety protocols, based on CDC recommendations, for events as restrictions are lifted across the country. We are watching as they come out, and our plans for this summer’s event include implementing these rules. The state of Oregon and Deschutes County are also monitoring the progress of the virus and the heath care system’s ability to respond, and are moving toward lifting re- strictions. We are in communication with the County Commission and are working to- gether to find solutions to enable us both hold this event and maintain the safety of all participants and staff. We are hopeful that the show will go on, and are doing what we can do to make it happen. It will likely be different than shows from the past three decades, but we are looking forward to bringing together all the riders and horses that make OHDC such wonderful events each summer. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm.
