Jukebox Competition SISTERS OF ITALY 2011 edition Gender Bender 9th edition Bologna 29th october – 5th november 2011 www.genderbender.it > WHAT IS GENDER BENDER Gender Bender is an international festival on gender issues, related to contemporary representations of the body, gender identities and sexual orientations. It offers a wide range of contents, including films, theatre and dance shows, visual arts exhibitions and installations, lectures and conversations, music concerts and parties. Gender Bender is produced by Il Cassero, Bologna gay lesbian centre. > GENDER BENDER JUKEBOX COMPETITION After the huge success of last year, Gender Bender is back with its live bands contest. The bands are invited to perform live a cover, chosen among the songs that have interpreted the changes of sexual customs and gender roles, and those that are classical hits for gays and lesbians. This edition is titled Sisters of Italy and it's dedicated to the repertoire of female protagonists of the Italian music, freely interpreted on stage by performers of all kinds of gender and sexual orientation: singles, front men & women with and without band, duos and trios (no orchestras, please). The selected bands will be invited to perform live in a special event within the Gender Bender programme. Gender Bender will evaluate both professional and amateur demos (home recordings, mobile, video, etc). > PLEASE, READ CAREFULLY Participation in the competition is free of charge. The author is responsible for all postal charges.
