Your Paper Your Way We now differentiate between the requirements for new and revised submissions. You may choose to submit your manuscript as a single Word or PDF file to be used in the refereeing process. Only when your paper is at the revision stage, will you be requested to put your paper in to a 'correct format' for acceptance and provide the items required for the publication of your article. To find out more, please visit the Preparation section below. INTRODUCTION The Journal of Number Theory features selected research articles that represent the broad spectrum of interest in contemporary number theory and allied areas. A valuable resource for mathematicians, the journal provides an international forum for the publication of original research in this field. The Journal of Number Theory is encouraging submissions of high quality, long articles where most or all of the technical details are included. The journal now considers and welcomes also papers in Computational Number Theory. JNT has a format with 3 sections: JNT PRIME targets (possibly very long with complete proofs) high impact papers. General Section is for shorter papers. We particularly encourage submission from junior researchers. Every attempt will be made to expedite the review process for such submissions. Computational Section is for Computational Number Theory. Major Conjecture Submissions. The Journal of Number Theory receives a large number of submissions claiming proofs or disproofs of major results such as Fermat's Last Theorem, the Goldbach Conjecture, the Riemann Hypothesis, Twin Primes, Binary Goldbach, the 3x+1 Problem, the Odd Perfect Number Problem, etc. These submissions will be considered by the Editorial Board, and if they appear implausible, the submissions will be rejected quickly. It is incumbent upon authors to provide convincing proofs, and not upon the Journal to find errors. Since it can be difficult for some authors to receive feedback on their work, the Journal offers for a fee the service of hiring a referee to work with an editor to go over the paper carefully. The editor will provide a detailed report to the author, explaining the nature of the mistake or gap in the submission, and will work with the author to help them understand the report. If no mistake or gap is found, the fee will be refunded, and the paper will be considered carefully by the full Editorial Board - the decision of the Board shall be final. For papers 20 pages or less the fee is $200 a page or $2000 (whichever is smaller) and for 20 page or more $100 per page. Note to date every paper submitted under this policy claiming a proof of one of these conjectures has been found to either have an error invalidating the argument or to be an incomplete argument with key details missing; no author has been able to fix such errors or make the argument complete. To assist the author, the journal has created a web page listing common mistakes in such attempts: https://web.williams.edu/Mathematics/sjmiller/public_html/jntnewpolicy/ which the authors are encouraged to read before choosing this service. Attempts by the same author on the same problem will not be considered until at least six months have passed from the previous submission. For these papers, Elsevier has authorized Williams College to collect and manage the payments of the fees and the transfer of the monies to the mathematics efforts enumerated below. A small fraction of these charges is retained as an administrative fee. All the rest is given back to the mathematics community by compensating the referees, funding conferences, and supporting young mathematicians and mathematics outreach efforts. Types of Papers ARTICLE TYPES Only original papers will be considered. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that the same work has not been and will not be nor is currently submitted elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution where the work was carried out; further, that any person cited as a source of personal communications has approved such citation. Written authorization may be required at the editor's discretion. Articles and any other material published in the Journal of Number Theory represent the opinions of the author(s) and should
