The top ten lots to surpass estimates in the February auction were all Burgundy, including wines from Domaine Leroy, Armand Rousseau and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Though Burgundy remains the wine that collectors are least inclined to sell, we were able to pry some incredible bottlings out of very special cellars for our seventh annual Celebration of Burgundy auction. The wines in the pages that follow are some of the most thrilling in the world. These are the crown jewels; they are made in tiny quantities, and in many cases are truly irreplaceable. They are so tough to let go. Ben Nelson President With that in mind, this brings us to several remarkable lots included in this sale. Two bottles Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. of 2005 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 1306) will be offered for an estimated $6,500-9,500. Two bottles of 1996 Chambertin, Armand Rousseau (lot 1349) will be auctioned off for an estimated $2,800-4,200. Also to be offered are six bottles in original case of 2005 Bonnes-Mares, Georges Roumier (lot 2263) for an estimated $8,000-12,000. In total, 178 Burgundian domaines are represented, with vintages ranging from 1952 to 2016. An estimated $1.7-2.06 million of DRC, $290,230-435,510 of Rousseau, and $193,950-288,050 of Leroy will be sold in this standout sale. 717 bottles of DRC, 1,338 bottles of Montrachet, 91 bottles of Coche-Dury, along with 536 large format bottles will be offered in the April auction. All the top producers of Burgundy are represented, from Coche-Dury, to Fourrier, to Lefl aive, Ponsot, Roumier…you name it and you will fi nd it. Back in 2012, our initial auction dedicated solely to the wines of Burgundy was the fi rst of its kind. We knew it would be a success, but the popularity of the annual event has far exceeded our expectations. Featuring 2602 lots valued at an estimated $4.3-6.5 million, this auction is projected to be our largest Burgundy sale yet. Whether you are a seasoned Burgundy collector or are just getting to know the region, this is a sale well worth your attention. We hope to see you in the saleroom at Spiaggia and thank you for your interest in this special sale. Please enjoy! Sincerely, Ben Nelson President Consign with the #1 Wine Auction House in the U.S. Do you need to make room in your cellar? Have your collecting interests changed?
