CITY OF CAMBRIDGE LICENSE COMMISSION HACKNEY DIVISION This publication is the uniform Flat Rate Guide established by the Cambridge License Commission. The prices listed are approved by the Cambridge License Commission and prices exceeding those listed will be considered overcharges by the Commission. Every taxi driver licensed by the Cambridge License Commission must have a copy of this flat rate book while operating a taxi. The driver shall, on all known and agreed-upon flat rate fares, collect the fare in advance. The taxicab driver shall be reimbursed for all tunnel, bridge, turnpike and other tolls in both directions. The directions provided in this book have been chosen to provide the simplest, not necessarily the most direct routes. Drivers who are familiar with the area of their destination should use their own discretion; it is strongly recommended that passengers be asked for their preferred routes and/or shortcuts. PROTECT YOUR INDUSTRY BE COURTEOUS RATES: 1. Flat rates listed in this book will be used instead of meter rates at all times. 2. All fares shall be on a cash or credit/debit cards basis, to be collected in advance. 3. No extra charge will be made for lost time because of traffic or weather conditions (many passenger considerately adjust their tips to compensate for these situations; however, this must be left up to them). 4. A passenger wishing to return from a flat rate community may do so at one-half the listed price. 5. If a driver is asked to wait more than 15 minutes at a destination before returning or continuing to an extended destination, a rate of $28.00 per hour waiting time shall be charged. 6. Extended destinations beyond the agreed-upon flat rate shall be charged at a rate of $4.00 per odometer mile. A deposit will be taken in advance of the trip’s continuation. 7. Receipts must be given upon request; they must include date, time, medallion number, amount of fare and full signature of the driver.
