St. Nicholas Of Myra, Carrick on Suir & St. Patrick’s, Faugheen Parish Newsletter 27th May 2018 St. Nicholas Church St. Patrick’s Church Gospel Summary Today’s Gospel passage is the conclusion of Matthew’s Gospel. In the Bible, this event is titled The Commissioning of the Disciples. They are indeed commissioned to make disciples of all nations, to baptize, and to teach to others what Christ has taught them. Jesus promised that he would always be with them as they carried out the mission of the Church. Reflection for Parents As parents, we are commissioned by the Church to be the first and most significant teachers of the faith for our children. We present our children to the Church for Baptism, we teach them the Commandments, and we share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ. We show them how to live as Christ’s disciples in the world today. In this way the Church on Earth grows and is strengthened. Take time this week to think about how you are fulfilling your commission to be the first and foremost teacher of the faith for your child. What more can you do to fulfil your role? Bringing the Good News Into Your Family This solemnity celebrates the Holy Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Work together to create a Holy Trinity mobile. Invite family members to use small squares or circles of construction paper to draw symbols for the Persons of the Holy Trinity. For example, you might draw favourite parts of creation to symbolize God the Father, a cross to represent God the Son, and a dove or a flame to symbolize God the Holy Spirit. Write the title “The Holy Trinity” in one square or circle. Use yarn and dowels or coat hangers to create your mobile. Hang the mobile in a place where all family members will see it and will be reminded to celebrate the work of the Holy Trinity. The finance group has sought three tenders to get the gutters painted and cleaned. The first quote was €26,000, the second quote was, €18,500 and the lowest was €9,250 all plus vat. We have given the job to the lowest tender. We were fortunate to receive a donation recently of €5,000 for the upkeep of the Church, which will really help with this project. For those who would like to be associated with the repairs, we will place a secure collection box in the Church, for you. Once again, thank you for generosity to the parish.
