All three resources are completely free and offer an opportunity to either support a student who is struggling or challenge a student who is What’s happening 2 already doing well.www.Khanacademy.org Dates at a Glance 2 At Khan Academy, students can create an account and track their progress. The site Significant Faith Day 2 offers video tutorials, interactive lessons as well as ongoing assessments. It starts at Extra-curricular schedule 3 grade four and has lessons that lead to post secondary. Over the break I helped my niece sign up start working on math lessons. The lessons are clear and easy to follow. Clubs Schedule 4 Although the Khan Academy is known for Math there are also lessons on Science, Athletic Schedule 5 Economics and the Humanities. Clothing Depot 6 www.duolingo.com High School Clinic Info 7 Menactra Letter 8 Duolingo is all about language learning. If you have a child in our French program this is a great site to help supplement their day program. The site also offers Portuguese, Student Transfers 9-10 Spanish, German and Italian. Senior Information Night 11 www.academicearth.org Grade 8 Information Night 12 Exam Study Guide 13-14 This site is great if you have a child who is planning to attend university. The site links to a number of lectures from actual university classes at schools such as, Harvard, Exam schedule 15 Princeton and Yale. It will give students a taste of university lectures and more importantly student can sample different fields of study. Guidance 16-17 Online Survey. January 27-30 Exams January 31 Exam Review Day FINAL EXAMS AND INCLEMENT WEATHER If an Inclement Weather day occurs during the scheduled exam period of January 24th to January 30th, forcing the cancellation of all exams on a given day, the day for rescheduling exams will be Tuesday, February 4th (which is the first scheduled day of semester 2) and not January st 31 as it is a significant faith day (Lunar New Year). In this case, the exam review day would follow on the morning of Wednesday, February 5th, with semester 2 classes starting that afternoon under a modified schedule. Significant Faith Day! January 31 Lunar New Year the day after the new moon marks the beginning of the new lunar year. It is the year of the horse. Irrespective of their religion or country, all Chinese, Vietnamese and many Koreans celebrate the cultural aspect of this day. This is the beginning of year 4712 in the Chinese calendar. The boys began the day with a hard fought 2-0 win over Westmount CI in the morning. This was followed by a 7-2 win over St Teresa Lisieux CHS and an 8-3 win over Northern. This set up a battle of undefeated teams in the final which saw the Thunderbirds emerge victorious over St Maximillian Kolbe by a score of 3-1.
