Downloading and Using Jetbrains Ides

Downloading and Using JetBrains IDEs Taylor CSE Students can download the professional versions of any JetBrains Integrated Development Environment (IDE) application with two options for licensing them free of charge. JetBrains IDEs are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The Taylor CSE Dept specifically uses the following IDEs which are installed on lab computers: ● PyCharm (Python IDE) ● DataGrip (database development) ● CLion (C/C++ IDE) ● intelliJ Community (Java IDE) ● WebStorm (Javascript IDE) JetBrains also publishes IDEs for C#, PHP, Ruby, Go, .NET and many other languages/development platforms. Students may also download and use these free of charge. Downloading the Apps Head to https://www.jetbrains.com/products.html to choose the IDE(s) you wish to download. You can download the professional version of any IDE, even though it may say it’s a 30-day trial. Once downloaded, run the installer for the IDE you downloaded and install the software. Licensing the Apps You have two options: Create a JetBrains student account and log in with it or check out a license from the Taylor CSE license server. Creating and Using a JetBrains Student Account Current students may create a JetBrains student account to license their JetBrains products. This account grants access to the professional versions of all the JetBrains IDEs mentioned above for one year. It must be renewed each year, and can be renewed as long as you remain a student and have a valid Taylor email address. It is accessible anywhere (not just on Taylor’s campus). Apply for a student account at https://www.jetbrains.com/student. Connecting to the Taylor CSE License Server This option requires you to be on campus in order for the connection to be made, but does not require a renewal on your part. After you install the software, choose “License Server” for the licensing option. Then type http://linuxlm.cse.taylor.edu:8080 as the license server address. This will work anywhere on campus, but not off campus. .
