There Housing are more females than males. There is a lower proportion of older people here than across the borough, with higher numbers of younger and working age people. Linacre has a high proportion of Registered Social Landlord (RSL) housing (36.9%), along with a higher percentage of vacant properties compared to the borough percentage. Deprivation & Overall deprivation has shown reductions since 2004, Linacre has high levels of deprivation, all of the of Lower Super Output Areas Child Poverty (LSOA’s) are in the most deprived 10% in the country, eight are in the most deprived 5% with three of these being in the top 1%. All Linacre LSOA’s are in the top 10% in the country for deprivation affecting older people with four being in the to 5%, one of which is in the top 1%. Overall deprivation affecting older people has increased since 2004. All Linacre LSOA’s have child poverty rates in excess of 40%, with 51.9% of children living in poverty in the ward. Latest available figures (July 2012) show a year on year rise of 2.6% for JSA claimants; however the number of 18-24 year old claimants reduced by 3.6%. Young people make up a quarter of all JSA claimants in Linacre. There are 14 JSA claimants in the ward for every Job Centre Plus vacancy, nearly double the borough rate. In 2001, 45.9% of residents within the Linacre ward were employed, this is significantly lower that the borough rate. Crime / Disorder Overall British Crime Survey (BCS) crimes in Linacre accounted for 9.1% of Sefton’s BCS and showed a reduction compared to & 2010/11. Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) incidents accounted for 8.3% of Sefton’s ASB and also showed a year on year decrease. Four Environmental BCS categories showed increases, with all of the ASB categories reducing. The rates of both BCS and ASB in Linacre are Issues considerably higher than for the borough. Education Linacre’s average educational attainment has shown overall reductions in the percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 or above in KS2 both English and Maths. With the attainment rates for the Linacre primary schools being lower than the national and Sefton average rates. Average absence rates, together with average persistent absence rates in Linacre are higher than the national and Sefton levels. Linacre has a considerably higher average percent of pupils eligible for free school meals compared to the borough and national. Health & One in five Linacre residents are smokers, with well over half being classed as overweight or obese. However, a far greater proportion Alcohol Misuse of residents state they achieve both the weekly recommended amount of exercise and daily intake of fruit and vegetables than the national average. By year 6 (ages 10 – 11) nearly a quarter of Linacre children are obese; this is higher than the borough and national averages. In Linacre the proportion of residents that consume above the recommended weekly allowance of alcohol, and the percentage who admit to binge drinking, is lower than the Sefton average.
