Introduction: In view of the MMDR amendments act - 2015, Mineral (Evidence of Mineral Contents) Rule 2015 and Mineral Auction Rule - 2015, Ministry of Mines, DGM, Chhattisgarh identified the block for exploration and to take up the block for G-4 level of exploration under NMET funding. 2. Location of the Block: The district headquarters about 26 km from the block in the east. The nearest township is Dalli Rajhraa. The block is located in the Survey of India Toposheet No. 64 H/2. The coordinates of the corner points of the block is given above (in summary) and covers an area of nearly 100 km2 3. Physiology and Drainage: Physiographically, the district can be divided into three distinct parts (i) Hilly part of the west, (ii) Southern plateau and (iii) Plain region of eastern part. The ranges of Maikal and Mangata are spread in western part of the district. The general slop of the district is towards east. All the river of the district flows in the eastern direction. Sheonath is the most important river and the important tributaries of the river are Amner, Jonk, Ghumariya, Pairi and Hant. 4. Previous work: Various agencies have studied the iron ore deposits of Rajnandgaon district. Detailed geological mapping of this region was conducted by Geological Survey of India in 1964-65 and in the year 1983-84, the Geological Survey of India carried out the survey work in Manpur-Damkasa-Kotri area and estimated the reserves assuming the thickness of iron ore as 30 meters. (Details given below) Probable Reserves of Dongarbor and Japdongri in Rajnandgaon District Assumed Dongarbor Japdongri Total S. No. Year Agency Thickness (M.T.) (M.T.) (M.T.) Mainkar D and Singh SK (1985-86) carried out investigation work during the field season 1985-86, in Rajnandgaon district for Iron ore deposits. During reconnaissance survey 111.57 km2 area mapped on 1:50,000 scale and various lithounits were plotted. Detailed work have been carried out in 2.15 km2 area along with detailed mapping and structural studies on scale 1:4000. A Total probable resources of 1.062 M.T. of iron ore have been estimated as given earlier Kanni- dongri contains 0-4945 M.T. of (+ 64% iron contents) iron ore and NMET/Iron/Dallirajhara/Nagpur/21.05.2018 5 Kukrel probable reserves they are likely to increase considerably. The other deposits of the area on Dongar bar and jap dongri. Probable reserves of these hills are upto 5 million tones (D.G.M.) - 1980-81) Thus sthe total reserves can be placed around 6 million tones. Pandey JL (1980-81) The Directorate of Geology and Mining, M.P. have located a rich iron ore deposit in the hills of Kanni-Dongri, Jup-Dongri and Dongar-Bor about 15 km in the east of village Boria-Tibbu, district Rajnandgaon. The iron ore deposits occur associated with the Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) of the iron ore series of the Archaeans.
