NOAA Climate Database Modernization Program (CDMP) Imaging Support Task, October 2003—Title: WMO Pub. No. 47 (1955-72) Series reference information: WMO (World Meteorological Organization), 1955-: International List of Selected, Supplementary and Auxiliary Ships. WMO No. 47, Geneva, Switzerland. (Serial publication; recently annual. Editions prior to 1966 were titled International List of Selected and Supplementary Ships.) Task background: Prior to the 1973 edition, WMO publication No. 47 (1955-) was published and previously available only in paper form. This project imaged all the editions and supplements that could be located at WMO and from other international sources (Table 1). Reproduced by permission of the World Meteorological Organization. We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and the UK Met Office in providing photocopies of two editions. Table 1: Editions and supplements of WMO No. 47 imaged for this task. Only one original supplement was located (1964s); it is not known whether any additional supplements were issued. The individual document contained in this file is shaded in the table. INTERNATIONAL LIST OF SELECTED, SUPPLEMENTARY AND AUXILIARY SHIPS (in alphabetical order of countries) LI STE INTERNATION ALE DE NAVI RES SELECTIONNES, SUPPLEMENTAIRES ET AUXILIAIRES (dans l'ordre alphab6tique des pays) I INTROMJCTION This edition of the "International List of Selected, Supplementary and Auxiliary Ships" contains information, valid on 1 January 1972, supplied by countries listed in the table on page 11, in accordance with Regulations L~.i.L/7.1.6 and LA.l.gT.1.7 of the Technical Regulations of the World Meteorological Organization. Full use has been made of electronic data-processing techniques in the preparation of the list. In view of the large number of changes since the 1971 edition, the present edition is a complete replacement. The loose-leaf system has however been maintained and this will facilitat- the incorporation of future annual supplements. This edition contains two summary tables showing the participation of various countries in the WMO Voluntary Observing Ship Scheme (table on page 11) and providing some statistical data (table on page 111) on upper-air observation equipment, telecommunica- tion facilities and number or' radio operators on board. INTRODUCTION Cette edition de la "Liste internationale de navires sClectionn6s, suppl6mentaire.s et auxiliaires" contient les renseignements, valables au ler janvier 1972, fournis par les pays knumkrks dans le tableau a la page 11, conform6ment am kgles L~.1.g7.1.6 et fA.l.y/7.1.7 du R6glement tech- nique de l'organisation m6tkorologique mondiale.
