Some of the following comments were noted: What people are bringing to the group Knowledge of challenge and stigma of addiction/ housing, local communities, health and wellbeing of families/ communities, young and older people’s needs and third sector activity Skills in improving quality of life/behaviour management, influence service providers, partnership working, linking up people Experience of recovery services, health matters, working with and for young people, professional networks, social care, young people’s perspective What people’s hopes are for the Locality Planning Group Better joined up working, stability and forward thinking Better partnership working Recognising assets in communities and working together To take on the views of the younger generation People in communities are listen too Communities influencing services Services planned around what people say they need Improvement of knowledge sharing and services available to vulnerable people in the community Find out what people think about how services should be provided Breaking down barriers to better 2 services People have a better understanding of feelings and impact of isolation Improved health and wellbeing outcomes Setting the Scene: B. Gray presented a context for Locality Planning & locality planning in South Ayrshire. Collins presented a context for Presentation and different aspects of the locality Discussion planning group. Presentation overview: Development tasks – Getting to know each other, Communities, Identifying key priorities, Communication, Support and Small grants Developing the group – forming, storming, norming and performing Two-way Communication and Constituency Developing a comprehensive and balanced sense of community Place Standard Tool Identifying key priorities for the next 12 months Small Grants Participatory budgeting Support that is available 3 Questions Q. How do LPGs influence the spending of social care budgets? And we need to look at social media which is safe and secure. A. LPGs will be looking at how budgets, current spending and funding. Gus Collins – LPG can look at pooling funds with others – e.g. Rotary Club. Rita Miller – 8 years’ experience of ‘Top Down’ planning approaches to health services that didn’t work during time on Health Board –time to do things differently Q. Who do we make sure the needs of people who are socially isolated, drug addicts or people taking drugs are met A. By the use of asset mapping > local people/services identifying people who are socially isolated – work by VASA highlighted > Lynn Anderson highlighted the work that has taken place to identify resources/activities/services that older people can access Q. What about the places that have different needs, like Annbank? Do the children have to be ant-social to have some of their needs met? A. Locality Planning Group will identify that different areas have different needs and make decisions about how the needs are addressed. Q. Can we do more for people to raise awareness to the role care homes and the work that they do? Are they needed? A.
