THE RIKSDAG The Swedish Parliament, the Riksdag, is the supreme decision-making assembly in Sweden. Every four years, the Swedish citizens choose 349 individuals to represent them in the Riksdag. During the current electoral period (2018–2022), eight parties are represented. The Riksdag has 15 parliamentary committees, which are responsible for preparing legislative proposals within their respective areas of responsibility. The Riksdag adopts legislation, determines the central government budget, examines the work of the Government, works with EU-related matters and draws up Sweden’s foreign policy together with the Government.
