Brief summary of project Stone Quarry Mine is situated at Village- Killannur, Tehsil & District-Thrissur, and State- Kerala over an area of 4.7557 ha. Mine lease has been proposed in favor of M/s. K. J. Vasudevan Nair Granites (LOI has attached as Annexure-I). The proposed rate of production is 80,000 MTA. The lease area comprises of private and government land. This mining project falls under Category “B2” Project or activity 1(a) as per EIA Notifications 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2013. 1.1. Life of mine 12 years Method of mining Semi-Mechanized Opencast Mining Method Water demand 15 KLD Sources of water Tanker supply Man power 22 Nearest railway station Thrissur railway station 11 km, S Nearest state highway Thrissur-Shornur State Highway, 4 km, N /national highway Nearest air port Kochi International Airport, 70 Km, S Seismic zone Zone-III as per IS 1893:2002 Mining is proposed to be carried out by semi-mechanized method of opencast mining. Drilling and blasting is involved. Excavation of mineral will basically involve removal of overburden by scraper plough tractor attachment. Proposed mining shall be carried out for a target production of the 2,40,000 MT in 3 years and total project cost 4,45,00,000 Rs.. The excavated pits at the conceptual stage shall be backfilled with the overburden generated during overburden removal. .
