Assuit governorate contributes to enhancing the industrial activity through many industries, the most important of which are petroleum, food and beverage industry, in addition to engineering, electronic and electric industries. Assuit governorate includes 584 existed establishments registered in IDA with investment costs of about L.E8 Billion and provide labor opportunities of 13818. There are six industrial zones in Assuit (Al Awamer Abnoub industrial zone‐ Al Zarabi industrial zone in Abu Tig‐ Al Safa industrial zone (Beni Ghaleb)‐ Sahel Selim industrial zone‐ Dairout industrial zone and Badari industrial zone. Investment in Assuit depends on the infrastructure that includes roads, transportations, energy, drinking water and sewerage. In the Education field, Assuit governorate has a distinctive feature which is Assuit University that provides the community with qualified people in thevarious scitifiientificand adiittidministrative fie lds. Assuit governorates is characterized by its internal road and transportation network, besides the regional road network all over the country, which makes Assuit the Trade Capital of Upper Egypt, which in turn facilitates marketing products inside and outside the governorate. There are many small-scale proposed projects that are based on the economic resources, such as manufacturing antiques made of natural and artificial marble, manufacturing alabaster, onion dehydration in addition to the dried fruit packaging. Moreover, there are many proposed industries that are bdbased on the industrial waste such as feed industry, plastic containers for chemical industries, in addition to producing feed plastic bags. Accordingly, this study will cover in detail the industry in Assuit governorate, followed by an overview about the governorate, besides the available resources therein. The Industrial Development in Assiut The Industrial Map: There are six industrial zones in Assuit which are: 1. Al Awamer Abnoub industrial zone 2. Al Zarabi industrial zone in Abu Tig 3. Al Safa industrial zone (Beni Ghaleb) 4. Sahel Selim industrial zone 5. Dashlout industrial zone in Dairout 6. Badari industrial zone First: Al Awamer Abnoub industrial zone It is located on the Eastern Cairo‐Assuit desert road The nearest ports are Suez Port (550km) and Safaga Port (460km) The nearest airports are Assuit airport (40km) and Cairo International Airport (350km) The nearest railway station is Assuit railway station (16km) and 12 km far from the Nile. The total area of Al Awamer Abnoub industrial zone is 614 feddans ( 2578800 m2) Second: Al Zarabi industrial zone in Abu Tig Al ZbiZarabi village is ldlocated on AiAssuit‐ Al Ghanayem road The nearest ports are Suez Port (495km) and Safaga Port (400km) The nearest airports are Assuit airport (45km) and Cairo International Airport (390km) The nearest railway station is Al Zarabi railway station in Abu Tig (10km) and 8 km far from the Nile. The total area of Al Zarabi industrial zone is 35 feddans (147000 m2) Third: Al Safa industrial zone (Beni Ghaleb) It locates in KM 12 Assuit‐The New Valley road The nearest ports are Suez Port (520km) and Safaga Port (480km) The nearest airport is Assuit airport (15km) The nearest railway station is Assuit railway station (15km) The total area of Al Safa industrial zone is 424 feddans (1780800 m2) Forth: Sahel Selim industrial zone - It has been planned, divided and carried out as small‐scale industries complex on an area of 55 feddans that is capable to contain 498 industrial units. Fifth: Dashlout industrial zone in Dairout It locates near to Dashlout in Dairout The nearest ports are Suez Port (650km) and Safaga Port (550km) The nearest airports are Assuit airport (60km) and Cairo International Airport (260km) The nearest railway station is Dairout railway station (35km) and 30 km far from the Nile. Moreover, the most ancient regional University is existed in Asuit Governorate (Assuit University) which contains 14 collage at the University’s branch in The New Valley Governorate in addition in its branch in Al‐Azhar University. Information about the Governorate Location Z Assuit Governorate lies at the two sides of the river Nile, bordered in the North by Minya Governorate, in the East by the Red Sea Governorate and it lies 375 km far from Cairo, 530 km far from Aswan, 100 km far from Suhag and 220 far from the New Valley Governorate. Z Area: Its populated area is 1716 km2 and its total area is 25926 km2 Administrative Division: AssuitGovernorateconsistsof11centersand11cities(Dairout–Al Qoseyia – Manfalout‐ Abnoub‐Abu Tig‐ Sadfa‐Al Badari‐Al Ghana’ em‐‐ Sahel Selim‐‐Al Fath‐ Beni Mor) and 236 main villages in addition to 911 country estates. Assuit Centers: Assuit‐ Dairout ‐Al Badari‐Al Qoseyia –Abu Tig‐ Sadfa Abnoub‐ Al Ghana’em‐ Al Fah‐ Manfalout‐ Sahel Selim 1- The Local Unit of Assuit City & Center Assuit Center includes 7 local units 2- Dairout Center Dairout is considered the largest center in Assuit which consists of more than 70 large villages, the most important of which are Biblaw, Banoub Dahr el Gamal, Shaloot, Arab Abou Karim, Nazlet Saw, Saw, Kwangashah, Eastern & Western Al Hota, Al Fayaad, Al Ghawanem, Sarf Sarhan, Kodeya, Sanbu, Masara, Nazlet Sarakna, Sarakna, Beni Yahia Bahari, Al Sharakwah, Al Awamer, Shals, Al Mandarah, Nazlet Abdellah, Al Motawe’,NazletBilal,Mazena,ZawyetHaron,AboulHadr,Amshoul, Abou Gabal Bahari, Arameya Al Ghodari, Al Manash, Awagah, Al Nehaya. Dairout Center’s population is estimated at 143,000 persons 3- Badari City’s Center Badari city is located at the Southern most of Assuit on the Eastern coast of the river Nile Badari Center includes 7 local units: – Al Nawawera – Al Atmaneya – Al Hamameya – Al Oqal Al Kebli – Al Oqal Al Bahari – Al Nawamis – Al Shaikh Othman The fllfollow ing table refers to some idiindicators reldlated to BdBadar iCenter Badari Center location Badari Population Census Badari Center location Badari Population Census 64475 4- Qoseyia Center QQyoseyia is located at the North of Assuit Governorate and is bordered in the North by Dairout Center, in the South by Manfalout Center. Qoseyia is located directly on Al ibrahimia canal. Qoseyia center includes 4 local units; which are Fazara, Meer, Beni Qora, El Manasheya El‐Kubra which in turn include many villages, the most important of which are Al‐Sabham Benu Hilal, Beni Saleh, Beni Idrees, Al Nezaly, Al Qoseir, Al Ansar, Arab Al Gahma, El Manasheya El‐ Kubra, Al Sorakna, Al tataleya, Al Harawna, Al Sordana, Beni Yahia, Beni Zaid, Bouq Al temsaheya. Moreover, Qoseyia’s population is estimated at 117,257,000.
