We Love, Laugh, and Learn Together Husky Families Spring is in the air! We hope you’re enjoying the warm weather as much as we are - it’s so nice that the kids get to go outside for recess and during P.E. We recently finished our first round of STAAR testing. We loved seeing the 4th grade S@H students who came in for testing, if only for a few hours. 3rd-5th grade students will take Math and Reading STAAR on May 11 and 12. Congratulations to our Service Award recipients, who have given their time and efforts to Plano ISD for many years. Haun is lucky to have such kind, dedicated teachers! *Ms. Nelson, 2nd grade - 10 years of service *Mrs. Cramer, 5th grade - 10 years of service *Mrs. Pyle, 5th grade - 10 years of service *Ms. Green, 4th grade - 40 years of service Finally, a notice to our S@H families regarding Chromebook collection at the end of the school year. We will retain all student Chromebooks on campus this summer, and will be collecting them prior to the last day of school. Please look for communication in the coming weeks regarding the exact collection date. For those children who will be attending virtual summer programs, there will be a centralized deployment of devices by that program prior to summer sessions starting. This will allow us to inventory our devices, reimage them and prepare the Chromebooks for the start of school next year. We Love, Laugh, and Learn Together Field Day 2021-A very different “day”! As has been the “norm” this past year, Field Day 2021 will look very different. We are shaking things up by having a fun FIELD WEEK for our kids! During the week of May 17-21, all of the Haun students will be playing various games during their daily PE time. That means that the students will have 3 days of games during that week. Unfortunately for all of us is the fact that we will be unable to use our wonderful field day volunteers that we have relied on so heavily for the past 21 years! Our volunteers during all these past Field Days have been the hardest working and the most pleasant to work with. A sincere thank you from all the past students, teachers and coaches to those of you that have volunteered for in previous years. We would not have been able to have such memorable Field Days without you. In fact, around PISD, other elementary schools can’t believe how many volunteers we get to help out!!! While this year may look a little different, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we can return to a “normal” Field Day next year. Please look for more information in future newsletters concerning this fun filled week! A good guideline is to arrive at school by 7:30 am to allow your child enough time to get in the building, put his/her things away, and begin work by 7:40 am. Gym doors open at 7:00 am. Students may enter the building at that time and will be supervised by staff. Unclaimed property is donated to a local agency at the end of each month. We Love, Laugh, and Learn Together What does quarantine mean for my child? Quarantine means that your child should stay at home with you for 10 days and not be around people outside of your household. The reason your child needs to quarantine is: ____ Your child has symptoms that could be COVID-19 ____ Your child was in close contact with a person with COVID-19 and is at risk of developing COVID-19 By staying home, you are making sure that your child does not spread COVID-19 to others if s/he has it. Remember, some people with COVID-19 have very mild symptoms or no symptoms of illness at all, but they can still spread the disease to others. Quarantine means that for 10 days, your child: Should stay at home with an adult Should not share food or utensils Should not play with neighborhood kids Should especially stay away from older adults with health problems Should not spend time with relatives who do not live with you Should not participate in activities outside of the home Should avoid being in public if possible If you must leave your house with your child during the quarantine period, please do so as safely as possible by having your child wear a mask, wash their hands frequently, and keep six feet of distance from other people. Monitor your child’s health during the 10-day quarantine. Contact your doctor if your child has symptoms or develops symptoms of COVID-19. Also, let your school nurse know if your child gets tested for COVID-19. If you need to report COVID-19 related information on a student, please submit a Student Report Form and email any required documentation (test results, doctor’s notes) directly to the school nurse: [email protected]. If you are an employee and need to self-report COVID-19 related information, please submit the COVID-19 Employee Reporting Form and email any required documentation to [email protected].
