It stretches along Gunma’s northern borders with the prefectures of Nagano & Niigata. The trail has a length of 100km. It begins in Minakami-machi and finishes in Toriitoge Mountain in Tsumagoi-mura. Some of the mountains on the trail are ranked among either the top 100 prefectural or top 100 national best mountains. The trail will complete as of March 2018, at which time it will be the country’s only and the longest mountain ridge line trail. If you are an advanced mountain climber, five days is all you need to finish. As you may know, nearly 70 percent of Japan is mountains. In Gunma, mountains occupy 67% of the land. Being a mountenous and landlocked prefecture, Gunma offers its visitors rich natural landscapes throughout the four seasons. The trail is roughly divided into five areas: Tanigawa Area, overlooking the beautiful foothill: -Mikunitoge Area, overlooking the shakunage alpine roses traverse: -Nozoriko-Yokoteyama Area, overlooking Mt. Hachima & Mt. Shirasuna: -Kusatsu-Manza Area, overlooking Yoshigadaira Marsh from Shibutoge Mountain: -Baragi-Kazawa Area, overlooking Mt. Azumaya from south of the ridge line. Here, mountains are often designated as the country’s top 100/200 mountains, and many of them are inactive volcanoes. Where there is a volcano, there is onsen. Gunma’s favorite and some of the country’s most popular onsen resorts are here: Minakami, Shima, Kusatsu, and Manza. Two common features among these spa resorts are abundant onsen waters and onsen qualities of many varieties. You can relax and unwind at one of the hot springs after trekking the Gunma Kenkyo Ryosen Trail, or you can use the onsen to recharge yourself. Gunma’s onsen are your best bet. Mountain climbing is affected by many factors. Weather is one. Also, you are vulnerable to injuries or getting lost in the mountains. To make it a successful mountain climbing, please prepare fully in line with the level of difficulty of the mountain you are going to climb or which season you are in. Here are some of the things you should do to make sure your mountain climbing is safe. You may be required to submit a Mountain-Climbing Registration Form in some areas. Although on the decline, traffic accidents caused by drunk drivers do not seem to cease. To eradicate drunk driving, it is essential that each driver and each of the passengers in a car must be totally determined to make it go away. As the year-end and the New Year holidays draw near, you will have many opportunities to drink and/or party. This is, of course, when traffic accidents by drunk drivers increase. As you know, not only the driver who caused traffic accidents, passengers in the same car will be punished as well. You are not supposed to 1) let anyone drive your car, knowing that he is going to drink 2) get in a car of which driver is drunk 3) offer drink to someone, knowing that he is going to drive. You could not only be fined or get prison sentence but also have your driver’s license revoked, in which case you cannot get a new license for the next several years. ✯✯✯ Events – Illuminations 2017-2018 ✯✯✯ 27th Int’l Interchange Festival / Int’l Carnival 2017 Takasaki You can enjoy capoeira (a Brazilian dance of African origin that incorporates martial arts movements such as kicks and chops), belly dance, Korean dance & drum performances, and Japanese tea ceremony demonstrations.
