Transportation is also essential for the thousands of manufacturing, retail, wholesale and agricultural businesses within the state. Transportation acts as a lifeline for moving raw materials to manufacturing facilities; farm produce to processing facilities and markets; and finished products to distributors or customers. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) 2035 Long- Range Plan provides a vision for future developments and investments on the INDOT state transportation system. This Plan builds upon a number of earlier planning studies which address transportation policy, system development, and infrastructure investment.
