St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery Taekwondo team also participated in this tournament Joel Justine student of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery has secured bronze medal in M G University Taekwondo Championship 2017-18 held at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha in under 63 kg category. Paulson M D student of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery has secured bronze medal in M G University Taekwondo Championship 2017-18 held at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha in under 80 kg category The impact of the Programme: MG University Intercollegiate Competitions are being conducted with much importance to benefit the young players to excel in their performance and the best performers will be given opportunity to participate in bigger sporting arena like South Zone Inter-University & All India Inter University. Sports positively affect college aged student athletes on an emotional level in regard to their level of confidence. Players will display higher levels of self-confidence the athlete also learns to work hard, put in the time, pay attention to small details, and be a positive part of a team, he is also learning these skills to one day be applied to his or her future career. Sports very strongly affect the collegiate student athlete’s social well-being. The tournament is named after the Indian cricketer Vinoo Mankad who was awarded Padma Bhushan. It is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Two Cricket Players named Akshay Manohar of 1st Year BA Economics & Muhammed Sinan 1st Year B.Com of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery team got selection to this National tournament for representing Kerala State based on performance our college has made in M G University & Domestic championships. The impact of the Programme: The Board of Control for Cricket in India introduced “The Vinoo Mankad Trophy” a national level limited- overs cricket domestic competition involving state teams from the Ranji Trophy for men's under-19 age group. Best players of all state in this age group will participate in sports competition to show their talents and positive influence in many areas. It supports players both financially & to gain positive mental health and improves social skills along with promoting physical health. Participating in sports develops healthy living habits that provide physical benefits such as developing coordination, physical fitness, and strength. It is held annually. The Players who get achievement in this tournament will be selected to participate in the National level Taekwondo senior Championship held in the current year. It is organised by the Taekwondo Association of Kerala (TAKE). The impact of the Programme: Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Taekwondo always requires wearing an dobok. It is a combative sport and was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by Korean martial artists with experience in martial arts .The governing body for Taekwondo is the State is Taekwondo Association of Kerala (TAKE). The advantages players get from this Competition are Reaction Force, Concentration, Equilibrium, Breath Control & Speed. It is held annually. The best four teams will be selected to participate in the Inter- University Cricket Tournament. Matches are played in limited over. The sides are divided into four groups, winners of each group will have to play a round-robin tournament, where the first four positions are decided. The tournament usually extends from early January to March every year. It is organized by the Association of Universities in India Two Cricket Players named Akhil Scaria of 1st Year BA Economics & Abin Mathew 1st Year B.A English of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery team got selection to this tournament for representing M G University based on performance our college has made in M G University intercollegiate & Domestic championships. The impact of the Programme: The Association of Universities in India introduced “Inter-University” a national level limited-overs cricket competition involving University teams from the states of India for men's under-25 age group. Best players of all Universities in this age group will participate in sports competition to show their talents and positive influence in many areas. It supports players to gain positive mental health and improves social skills along with promoting physical health. Participating in sports develops healthy living habits that provide physical benefits such as developing coordination, physical fitness, and strength. It has been held annually since the 1945–46 season. The trophy was donated by, and named after, the family of the Maharaja of Cooch Behar. From 1945–46 to 1986–87 the Cooch Behar Trophy was a schools competition. It changed to an under- 19 competition in 1987–88. Matches are played over four days. All the Ranji Trophy teams field sides, except for Railways and Services. The sides are divided into four groups, each of which plays a round-robin. After the group matches are completed, quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final are held. The tournament usually extends from early November to late January. It is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
