A RESOLUTION to Honor and Commend Tom Holmoe for His Remarkable Career with Brigham Young University

Filed for intro on 04/14/2003 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 277 By Crutchfield A RESOLUTION to honor and commend Tom Holmoe for his remarkable career with Brigham Young University. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should salute those citizens who through their extraordinary efforts have distinguished themselves as community leaders of whom we can all be proud; and WHEREAS, one such noteworthy individual is Tom Holmoe, who, as an alumnus and employee of Brigham Young University, will soon speak to the Chattanooga Chapter of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association; and WHEREAS, Tom Holmoe is a valuable member of the Athletic Department at Brigham Young University whose efforts have significantly enhanced and furthered the work and goals of the department; and WHEREAS, a member of the class of 1983, Tom Holmoe played defensive back at BYU from 1978 – 1982 and led the Western Athletic Conference with seven interceptions as a sophomore, earning first-team All Conference honors; and SJR0277 00576985 -1- WHEREAS, after being a part of five Western Athletic Conference championship teams at BYU, Mr. Holmoe was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 1983 National Football League draft; with the 49ers, he earned three Super Bowl rings during his seven-year career; and WHEREAS, Tom Holmoe also established an illustrious career as a coach, leading college and professional football teams for twelve years; and WHEREAS, having completed his Master’s Degree in 1995, Mr. Holmoe now works assiduously to garner support for BYU athletic programs, serving as the Associate Athletics Director for Development; and WHEREAS, Tom Holmoe is most grateful for the love and companionship he shares with his wife, Lori, and their four children; and WHEREAS, this General Assembly finds it appropriate to pause in its deliberations to acknowledge and applaud this great man for his dedication to the service of humanity; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and commend Tom Holmoe for his remarkable career with Brigham Young University, noting his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we extend to him our best wishes for his continued success in every future endeavor.
