El Arte de Vivir 2007 Winery: Bodegas J.C. Conde Region: Ribera del Duero D.O. Grapes: 100% Tempranillo Winery: This vineyard-driven project was started with- out a vineyard by a group of young friends with the goal of respecting tradition, honoring quality and searching for the essence of wine. They aim to produce wine with the perfect balance between fruit and wood which will allow the wines to be enjoyed immediately and age well. The initial vintages made from purchased grapes that had been farmed by the winery from 50 year and older vines. The project has grown into its own vineyard and a new winery building under the winemaking direction of Isaac Fernandez. Wine: This wine is sourced from 60-80 year vines in La Horra and Quemada, villages in the Burgos District of Ribera del Duero. Produced by J.C. Conde, with Isaac Fernandez, managing the vineyards and making the wines. This wine spent 6 months in a combination of 70% French and 30% American oak after fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Literally translated as “the art of living” this wine is homage to those who have inspired us in the quest to bring- ing great Spanish wines to the US. This vintage is dedicated to Robert Nielsen, who believed in and supported my vision for Grapes of Spain. We practice the Art of Living in his memory. Reviews: “It’s more substantial and structured than the Vivir, vivir cuvee with layers of fleshy fruit, excellent concentration, and 1-2 years of aging potential. The finish is lengthy and sweet. Drink this pleasure-bent wine over the next six years. These two wines [El Arte de Vivir and Vivir, vivir] from Bodegas J.C. Conde are sensational values from Ribera del Duero.” Top 100 Spanish Wine Values 91 points Wine Advocate issue 181 February ‘09 Selected by Aurelio Cabestrero® Imported by Grapes of Spain 571.642.0343 Phone 571.642.0505 Fax www.grapesofspain.com © 06/2009.
