It was therefore normal that the ECB did not take this systemic risk into account and integrate it to its missions. Now that the Union has adopted the objective of carbon neutrality and that climate risk is a fully documented fact, it is the duty of the ECB to adapt its action. Let us recall that even the Federal Reserve warns us of the "significant risks posed by climate change to financial stability". While ensuring financial stability and protecting citizens from systemic risks is one of the essential tasks of the ECB: 1. Isn't it time to switch to a proactive and qualitative approach to risk management (for example by adapting leverage ratios to the level of pollution of the sectors, etc.)? 2. Isn't it time for the ECB to green its asset purchase policy as well as that of the banks it oversees? 3. In the absence of such changes in its actions, is the ECB not going against its very mission of stability and supervision of the financial system?
