Good Book For Learning of Those Lesser Known Holocaust HeroesBy Don Kidwell"Their only concern was that these were people- living, breathing human beings who had as much right to live as you and I...the deliverers did exist; quietly saving as many lives as they could, risking their own safety to bring hundreds of others back home." Fine book that gives you a springboard for further research into remarkable, everyday people who made a difference during the Holocaust including the likes of Adelaide Hautval, Ludwig Worl, Ella and Kurt Lingens, Baron Karl con Motesiczky, Lorenzo Perrone, and Maria Kotarba among others. Come to realize as a result that even the smallest thing mattered when lending a helping hand. Very good book and will end it with a quote that really stuck with me "I live, because the others have died in my place."0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Read ItBy holly senecalA book as haunting as the photo on the cover. It is truly a must read and should be a staple in middle/high schools everywhere. The Holocaust story is unfortunately a familiar one. The perspective in this book as a person who voluntarily walks into the camps to set the prisoners free is compelling, heart wrenching and absolutely wonderfully written. Its real, and deserves credit for making us aware once again that there are good people in this world even in the face of incredible evil.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Willingness to die for others who are not like themselvesBy Modupe HendricksI really enjoyed this book Holocaust Rescuers. This book describes five individuals who are recognized by Israel as the Righteous Among the Nations because of their willingness to risk their lives to save various Jews during the Holocaust. The book describes five individuals who only save the few people; nevertheless, these people would've been executed if the Gestapo had known everything that they did. I would've liked a little bit more detail about the individuals who became rescuers. Still it is great to see that some individuals were willing to face death to save others. I highly recommend this book. I will read more books from this author. True Stories Of Brave Holocaust Rescuers Who Saved The Destitute Prisoners Of Auschwitz The Second World War, was a classic example of how good and evil man can be ndash; where Hitler and his men were doing every thing they could to destroy entire races, the Allied Powers of the world came together to fight and rescue the millions caught in the crossfire. Called Ho-Shoah in Hebrew, the Holocaust was, undoubtedly, the most painful and devastating man- made disaster the world has ever seen. In the simplest of terms, it was nothing more than a government sponsored murder trip, in which millions of innocent people lost their lives, simply because one believed ndash; and taught ndash; that his bloodline was better than the rest. From Jews to homosexuals, innumerable people died, their screams echoing through the silences we observe for them even today. In the concentration camps, there were tortures and horrific scientific experiments being conducted on the hapless and the innocent. And in those same concentration camps, there were a few who were quietly rebelling, trying to squirrel away as many lives as they could, trying to spirit them away to safety in the proverbial dead of the night. Some of them even lost their lives in such a noble pursuit; too many of them have been lost to the pages of history, their bravery and selflessness unknown but never truly forgotten. The Holocaust remains a stark reminder of how dark humanity can be. But it also reminds of how much light we can possess and how easily we can make an impact on someonersquo;s life. Given the chance, man has the ability to flip a switch and turn his entire being around ndash; whether that flip, turns you into an angel or a demon is up to you to decide...
