December 6th Issue Breckenridge Ullr Fest December 11–15, 2019 Ullr Fest will celebrate 57 years this December 11-15, 2019, and the Town of Breckenridge invites snow lovers of all ages to join the party. During Ullr Fest in Historic Breckenridge, don’t be surprised to see horned Viking hats adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders. Join us for the biggest bonfire in town and more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade with crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub. Pray for snow with us and Ullr himself… he’s ready for a good party. Time: Doors Open 6:00pm | Show at 6:30pm Location: Riverwalk Center, Breckenridge Cost: FREE Thursday, December 12 WORLD’S LONGEST SHOTSKI UNOFFICIAL WORLD RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT Join the Breckenridge Distillery and the Breckenridge Mountain Rotary on December 12, 2019 in their quest to win back the unofficial world record for longest shotski. We are looking for 1,300+ people to help us beat the current world record held by Park City, UT! Grab your friends and sign up today to join Breckenridge during Ullr Fest and be part of the world record Ullr shot! Time: 4:00pm start, 3:45pm line-up Location: Main Street Breckenridge Cost: $10, to participate. All proceeds benefit the Breckenridge Mountain Rotary. Must be 21 years old to participate. Check-in: You MUST CHECK-IN at the Riverwalk Center to get your ID checked, entry sticker and shot glass. Check in begins at 1:00pm-3:30pm. At 3:45pm, please meet on Main Street. No ID, no participation, regardless of if you’ve registered. ULLR PARADE The centerpiece of the week, the Ullr Fest Parade, showcases Breckenridge’s wild winter fun while taking over Main Street. There will be cash prizes for the most creative float! 1st gets $500, 2nd gets $300 and 3rd gets $200. Time: 4:30pm Location: Breckenridge Main Street Cost: FREE! ULLR BONFIRE Join us for the town bonfire and celebrate the ultimate homage to Ullr! We’ll burn old Christmas Trees from previous years. Entertainment provided by Red Bull. Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm Location: South Gondola Parking Lot Cost: FREE Friday, December 13 ULLR ICE PLUNGE (WEATHER DEPENDENT) Come prove your endurance and dedication to the cold at the Ullr Ice Plunge. Plunge into the frozen depths of the Maggie Pond and fully immerse yourself in winter’s chill. Compete for the Best Plunge Costume to win prizes and glory! Weather Dependent. There will be music, food, drinks and laughter. There will be a heated changing room and even a hot tub open to anyone willing to accept the challenge! West Ice Arena Cost: Free Entry, $4 Skate Rental ULLR ON THE EDGE At this year’s Ullr Fest, the the Summit County Arts Council (SCAC) has offered artists from around the country the opportunity to showcase their imaginations and at the same time explore the extraordinary possibilities of a snowboard or ski as their canvas. The juried snowboards and skis will be exhibited at the Arts Alive Gallery from December 14 through March 22nd. A reception will be held from 4:00 pm- 7:30 pm at the Arts Alive Gallery to celebrate all that is Ullr! Peggy and her husband relocated from New York (Long Island) in 2014, but have owned second homes in the area since 1999. She most recently joins us from the Clerk and Recorders Office at the Summit County Government, and worked for Everist Materials prior to that. Peggy also had an extensive career with TIME Inc. in Manhattan. She has been enjoying the slower pace of living in a mountain town compared to the Big Apple. Her and her husband have two huskies- a rescue (Iceman) and a retired sled dog (Georgia). She also enjoys all types of sports (both doing and watching).
