report in memory of Mr. Eugene (Gene) Klepadlo. Gene was born on August 21, 1964 to Stanley and Pauline Klepadlo of Erving. Growing up in Erving with his sister Valerie and brother Jeff. Gene was a member of the Boy Scouts obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Growing up, he attended schools here in town and the Franklin County Technical School. He became an active member of the Millers Falls Fire Department and served several years with that department. Always good with a tool in hand, Gene spent many hours helping restore the antique Brockway (fire truck) the Department obtained for parades. Employment took Gene out of the area for several years. Having found the light of his life Elsie, Gene moved his family back to the Town of Erving to raise their family. He rejoined the fire department serving as an active member for several years, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. He became the troop master of Troop 7 of the Boys Scouts. Gene was also very active in Town politics serving on the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, and several hiring committees over his time with the Town. A supporter of the Franklin county Technical School, Gene would attend many of the functions held there to support students. Gene enjoyed spending time with his many friends but what meant most to him was family. He and his son Jeremy would often be found under the hood of Jeremy’s truck. Gene had a sense of community and would turn out to help people in need from being an active member of the fire department to mentoring the youth of the community through the boy scouts, Gene gave of himself to make this nice little town a better place. Eugene passed away unexpectedly and will be sadly missed by all he touched with his generous heart. The Town of Erving couldn’t think of a more deserving and appropriate recipient for this year’s Annual Town Report dedication.
