Your request was assigned FOIA Case Number l 7-LaRC-F-01126 and was for: "A copy of the correspondence between NASA Langley and the producers of the award winning movie HIDDEN FIGURES (filmed in part at Langley Research Center). The subject of the requested correspondence is assistance by NASA/or the movie and its filming, and arrangements for access to the NASA-Langley facilities. By producers, I mean Fox 2000 Pictures, Chernin Entertainment, and Levantine Films." The NASA's Langley Research Center's Program Office conducted a search for records using the above criteria and located responsive records to your request. Those records are attached. NASA withheld from disclosure inter-agency/intra-agency emails and records that are attorney work-product pursuant to FOIA Exemption 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(5). NASA also withheld predecisional deliberative process documents pursuant to FOIA Exemption 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(5). NASA also withheld information that would constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy ( company addresses, email addresses, phone/mobile numbers, and fax numbers) that are specific to certain individuals pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(6). FOIA Exemption 5 U.S.C. § 552 (b)(5), " ... protects inter-agency or intra-agency memorandums or letters which would not be available by law to a party other than an agency in litigation with the agency." FOIA Exemption 5 U.S.C. § 552 (b)(6), " ... protects information about individuals in 'personnel and medical files and similar files' when the disclosure of such information "would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy." 2 Since information is being withheld, you have the right under 14 CFR §1206.700 to appeal this initial determination within 90 days from the date of this letter.
