Match Notes } The Edinboro wrestling team will compete in the 44th Annual Eastern Wrestling League Champi- onships on Saturday, March 9 at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, Va. A young but battle-tested Edinboro squad seeks to claim their fourth EWL title in the last six years. A year ago, Edinboro finished third behind champion Rider and runner-up Lock Haven. } The 2019 EWL Championships will once again have seven teams vying for the title -- Edinboro, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Cleveland State, George Mason, Lock Haven and Rider. } As announced on Tuesday, Edinboro will join the Mid-American Conference beginning with the 2019 EWL Championships 2019-20 season. Edinboro, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Lock Haven, Rider, and George Mason of the EWL Saturday, March 9 will join current MAC wrestling members Buffalo, Central Michigan, Kent State, Missouri, Northern Session 1 – 10 a.m. Illinois, Ohio, Old Dominion, and SIU-Edwardsville, as affiliate members. Round 1 – Championship First Round } Edinboro won three individual titles a year ago, with no EWL champions returning to the lineup Round 2 – Semi-Finals & Consolation First Round this year. Sean Russell (125 lbs.) won his thrid title while Korbin Myers (133 lbs.) and Billy Miller (285 Round 3 -- Consolation Semifinals lbs.) won their second to claim a spot at the NCAA Division I National Championships. Edinboro wrestling debuted on the Lettermen Returning/Lost: 6/7 Division I level in 1986, joining the Eastern Wrestling League in 1988-89. Since that time, the Fighting NCAA Qualifiers Returning/Lost: 0/5 Scots have enjoyed a rich tradition of excellence under head coaches Mike DeAnna, Bruce Baumgart- ner, Tim Flynn, and now Matt Hill. In the last 21 years, Edinboro won 15 EWL championships and came in second on four other occasions. That included a string of eight straight team titles, and 12 in a span of 13 years. FLOWRESTLING TO TELEVISE ALL HOME DUALS For the fifth year in a row, all of Edinboro’s FORMER FIGHTING SCOT STANDOUTS TO BE INDUCTED INTO EWL HALL OF FAME home dual meets will be streamed by Flow- Two former Fighting Scots – Pat Bradshaw and Torsten Gillespie -- will be inducted into the EWL Hall restling.
