Ans: We need shelter to protect ourselves from heat, cold, rain, winds, wild animals and thieves. 2. What are the different kinds of houses? Ans: There are two kinds of houses: i) Kutcha house (temporary house) ii) Pucca house (permanent house) Kutcha house: These houses are not very strong. These houses are called as temporary house. They can get damaged easily. Example: Hut. Pucca house:- These houses are very strong. They are permanent houses because they remain safe for many years. Example: Bungalows, multi-storey buildings. 3. Name the rooms in your house. Ans: Pooja room, kitchen, study room, store room, drawing room, bath room. 4. What facilities should a home have? Ans: i) A home should be well ventilated. ii. A good home should have a proper drainage system. iii. The windows and doors should have wire netting to keep away flies and mosquitoes. iv. A good house should allow sunlight and fresh air to come in. 5. Why should we allow sunlight to enter our house? Ans: We should sunlight to enter our house because sunlight kills the germs present in our house. 6. Why do we have wire netting in our house? Ans: We have wire netting in our house to keep away the flies and mosquitoes. 7. Name the materials used for making a pucca house. Ans: Bricks, cement, iron, steel and wood. 8. Name the materials used for making a kutcha house. Ans: Mud, palm leaves, bamboo, straw and sticks. 9. Name some uninvited guests in your house. Ans: Lizard, flies, mosquitoes, spiders, rats, cockroach etc. 10. Explain different types of houses. 1. Stilt house: In places having heavy rainfall houses are made on wooden posts high above the ground. These houses are called as stilt houses. 2. Sloping rooftop houses: In places that receive heavy snowfall people build sloping rooftop houses. This type of rooftop lets the snow slide down easily. 3. Tent : Tents are used as temporary by campers, soldiers and scouts. They are made of canvas. They can be carried anywhere. 4. Boathouse: A boathouse is a boat with a house. 5. Multi-storey building: Tall buildings are built in big cities and towns which have many floors. Each floor have many houses. Each house is called as a flat. .
