Did you know: • The kitchen at Bell MTS Iceplex prepares food for more than The Press Box Restaurant & Sports Bar? • While the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose are at Bell MTS Iceplex the Head Chef creates and follows through to deliver team meals with consistency and quality? • The Head Chef at Bell MTS Iceplex also oversees culinary dishes prepared for Camp Manitou (located just west of Bell MTS Iceplex)? • We are looking for an energetic individual to join the True North team as Head Chef? What to be excited for as Head Chef at Bell MTS Iceplex: • Being a positive contributor to our team and foster an enjoyable, cohesive, respectful working environment. • Ensuring compliance with strict health and safety standards and implementing service standards and training staff to continuously improve food quality and productivity. • Writing an executing a cohesive menu and preparing and executing catering contracts. • Overseeing the preparation, cooking and plating of all meals in a timely manner. • Identify and organize staff according to individual strengths and execute restaurant functions and catering functions, simultaneously and to a high standard of excellence. • Providing supportive leadership and mentoring to all members of the BOH team and supporting and directing kitchen staff including performing preparation work and dishwashing. • Performing duties associated with inventory, ordering and receiving deliveries in accordance to volume of expected sales and par levels. • Responsible for monitoring and controlling costs of food items on an ongoing basis and reporting monthly variances from expected. • Compiling and executing cleaning duties and preparation lists. • Participating and contributing to meetings with the F&B team to improve operations, promotions and identify opportunities for efficiency. • BOH scheduling and fostering positive relationship between FOH and BOH to develop amicable workplace culture. What we need from you: • 5 years experience as a Sous Chef and have an extensive background in executing line service and catering. • Very knowledgeable of culinary functions in general and be very organized and comfortable working in a high-pressure environment. • Possess valid Manitoba Health Food Handler’s Certification. • Must possess a valid drivers license and vehicle for transportation as Bell MTS Iceplex and Camp Manitou are not on Winnipeg Transit routes. • Display strong leadership, ethics and motivational skills to lead a team. • Must be personable, maintain a professional disposition and dress hygienically in accordance with policy. Due to the nature of the sports and entertainment industry where indoor public assembly takes place, itis True North’s expectation that all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 a manner approved by Health Canada.
