1 Yemen Nutrition sub-Cluster-Aden, Lahj and Abyan MINUTES OF MEETING Date: Sunday15th April.. 2012 Time: 11.20 am -12:35 pm Venue : UNICEF Office, Aden- Yemen Participants: Aden’ Nutrition (apologized), Lahj HO/Nutrition representatives (1), Nutrition Abyan (Absent), WHO (1), UNICEF (1persons).UNHCR (Absent) , YWU-Aden (absent), YWU – Abyan (1),MSFE(absent),Ex.unit for IDPs affair(absent) , YFCA(1),WFP (1),Save the children (1),IOM (1),CSSW( 1), Islamic Relief (absent) and International Relief (2), Wail OCHA (absent),ICRC(absent), CLB (USAID)(1). Total no. of attendees: 12 Agenda: 1- Follow up on the last meeting action points. (10 min.) 2- Executive Unit update on the latest IDPs verification figures (10 min.). 3- Partners up date (25 min.) 4- Feedback on activity reporting by the cluster lead (Who reported and who didn't yet and encourage them to do so either directly to Sanaa or to the sub cluster) (5min). 5- Capacity building needs CMAM and IYCF including volunteers. (10 min.) 6- Mapping of local NGOs (10 min.) 7-AOB (5 min). Topics/Issues Actions/by/Notes - Attendance sheet, Contact list for any additions. - A new 2 member joined the Nutrition Sub-Cluster as CSSW (Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Nasi) &YWU-Abyan (Amena Al-Abed) in Aden Office. Agreed on Last Meeting’s Minutes and Action points. - Dr. Gamila (nutrition sub-cluster lead) is on training in Sana’a. *About contingency plan: *Tareq Talahma from OCHA is still outside Yemen. -SC coordinator (Dr.Farida): Alem will comeback Revision of the last sub - cluster meeting’s minutes and from Sana’a & discuss with here about C.P. because action points: she is the responsible one for that. * Activities reports from Aden & Lahj governorates should -YFCA: will submit C.P. in the next meeting. be sent monthly for updating data. - CSSW: Dr. Mohammed Bayashoot apologized * The cash money for the Journalists WS. From UNICEF because he is in Sana’a & he will send the C.P. by fax still not transferred. or e-mail. *Amena from YWU-Abyan supposed to increase the numbers of Journalist participants from Abyan governorate. - The comprehensive contingency plan will be submitted from Tareq OCHA asap. New IDPs arrivals from Abyan Govt. : -Ex. Unit coordinator is still absent (we called 3 members but no one of them attend the sub-cluster meeting). -Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Nasi gave some data as CSSW *NGOs lists in Aden, Lahj, Al-Dale’ & Abyan registered : Governorates will be sent to all members of the sub *New arrivals /IDPs from Lawdar reached to Al-Ain, Al- cluster for feedback. Wade’e &Moodiah areas were 5000 persons (500 families). Nutrition Sub-Cluster Meeting Aden 15th April, 2012 2 -Dr.Nasreen (WHO) 15 Families reached to Aden governorate from Lawdar district in Abyan governorate & many families displaced from Lawdar to neighbouring * Activities reports should be fulfilled in the Activity villages. Report Form for updating data on a monthly basis. If no new activity performed just write in the report -YFCA: with mentioning any gaps /needs in your works related * 500 new families reached Lahj Governorate from Abyan. to nutrition activities *Some cases reached Al-Mukalla in Hadhramout governorate. *Reports for MUAC assessments done by WHO teams in Aden governorate will be submitted monthly from IOM: January. *There is a conflict data about new arrivals in Rosod in Abyan governorate between Ex. Unit & what we found on the ground (in Rosod about 950 families). Partners update: . WHO : * Dr. Nasreen: TFC department equipment will be completed in AL-Wahda general teaching hospital within 7 to 10 days. *TFC department will be separated completely from gastroenterology word. * follow up the Dengue cases that appear as outbreak in some areas in Khanfar district &sent i.v. fluids to manage those cases. *samples are taken to Sana’a labs. For confirmation of dengue disease. WHO coordinate with MSFE to provide supportive * therapy for dengue cases. *About measles outbreak a comprehensive campaign against measles & polio was performed in all governorates in March *WHO coordinate with the Malaria Control so we expect that measles cases will be dropped. Save the children: *Dr.Farida confirm that they have 3 projects: 1. OTP & health mobile clinic in 4 districts in Lahj Govt. *WFP will support complementary feeding from the (AL-Hawta, Tuban, AL-Makaterah &AL-Madariba) in centre in Sana’a for MAM cases covered by SC selected 10 villages (5 villages in every 2 weeks). activity. 2.support mobile team & 10 fixed health centers which provide CMAM services in 4 districts in Lahj Govt.(AL- Melah, AL-Musaimeer, Tor AL-Baha & AL-Kabbaitah) So we select 10 already present H. centers &mobile team for Nutrition Sub-Cluster Meeting Aden 15th April, 2012 3 support & capacity buildings (may be at next month because supply isn’t available & we will coordinate with Lahj GHO). *Dr. Farida said during measles & polio immunization 3.Another project is to provide health & nutrition support for campaign MUAC screening for immunized children 3 H. Centres in Lahj governorate (AL-Feyoush, AL-Anad & was done in AL-Mansura, AL-Basateen & Kod AL- AL-Hawta MCH centres) they will cancel AL-Hawta & Othmani, the discovered SAM cases only 6-8. select another centre. WFP: *Dr. Gamal WFP will distribute supplementary feeding blankets for Abyan IDPs in Lahj governorate (5,000 families) in 16th April & then right from 28th April will cover 21,849 families in Aden governorate. YWU-Abyan: *There are many febrile cases in Abyan governorate * Data about IDPs new arrivals will be submitted later suspected to be dengue cases. on by YWU-Abyan coordinator. *Data about IDPs new arrivals will be submitted later on. Lahj nutrition coordinator: *Dr. Ensigam (Nut. coordinator) 2 requests submitted for 2 OTP mobile clinics & supervision as emergency. IOM: *IOM interventions in Sarar district: *After complete OTP mobile clinic in Sarar, Rosud &Sabah - 73 cases U5 SAM cases, 8 of them IDPs. we plan to introduce OTP mobile clinic in Ahwar district in - 49 cases between 5&12 years SAM cases, 1 of them Abyan governorate. IDPs. * IOM team in Abyan form a nutrition guide for community -32 cases between 6 months &18 years MAM cases. volunteers trained by unicef in 17 health centres in Sarar district in Abyan governorate & will provide services in Sabah. I.R: *Dr.Mokhtar said we found many malnourished cases in Lahj Govt. & will need support from UNICEF. Nutrition Sub Cluster Lead: *The nutrition sub-cluster lead will contact all the *I.R must coordinate with Lahj GHO & UNICEF. members of the cluster by e-mail before one week of * WASH coordinator didn’t attend the sub cluster meeting. the meeting & by direct phone calls 2-3 days before the meeting conductions.
