Services using the Book of Common Prayer are marked (BCP) Dear Friends Is your glass half full or half empty? It’s interesting the way in which each of us views the problems of life. Some of us react to given situations in one way, others in a completely different way. So, are you a half glass full or empty person? The only thing in life, irrespective of how we view them, is that problems will almost certainly come our way. We just can’t avoid them and so often they seem to turn up one after the other, just like waves that knock us off our feet. So, what should we do? Well, we could go through life constantly swaying from one emotion to another, being tossed about by the things that are thrown our way – reacting sometimes in a positive way but perhaps more often reacting in a negative way. That’s one option. Another option, however, is to totally dedicate, or re-dedicate yourself, to putting your whole trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. One piece of scripture that I find extremely encouraging is Jeremiah 29: 11-14. The context is God speaking to the exiles in Babylon – a people who are undergoing suffering - and I would like to invite you to read this passage prayerfully and slowly, savouring each word from God to you:- “’For I know the plans I have for you’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you.
