Bullies, they come in all shapes and sizes, some you know the identity of and some hidden behind a screen. No matter who they are they look for the biggest celebrity to target and in this case it was Jesy Nelson. My name is Connie and my speech is about my idol and inspiration, Jesy Nelson. Jessica Louise Nelson, born on 14th June 1991 in Romford East London is a victim of cyberbullying and in 2019 made a documentary about how it took a toll on her life. Jesy rose to fame like how any wanna-be popstar would dream of, she won the X-Factor in 2011 with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-anne Pinnock, her former band members. Jesy was part of one of the biggest bands in the world, Little Mix. Together they had 5 UK number 1 singles, cannonball (the X-Factor winners song), wings, black magic, shout out to my ex and sweet melody their most recent song and one of the last with Jesy in the group. Little Mix also won 2 BRIT awards, British single for shout out to my ex and British video for women like me. They also made a TV show named The Search where they look for the next big band to hopefully be as big as Little Mix are. Recently Jesy announced her departure from the band making 4 turn into 3. Jesy realised she was getting hate on the day she won the X-Factor, she said “I was compared to my bandmates and gradually it got worse to the point when people were telling me to kill myself, how I was the biggest out of everyone in the group, that I cared more about pick’n’mix than Little Mix and I physically couldn’t take it anymore.”. She had said that she even had celebrities picking on her for the same reasons. How would it make you feel? You have just won the biggest tv show and you get all these comments on the day that meant to be the happiest of your life and even some from celebrities. Jesy (in her documentary) admitted to having to look at the comments on her pictures everytime she woke up and even trying to commit suicide in 2013, not once but twice. She would also starve herself before photoshoots and would then binge eat afterwards. Jesy had put up with pain for almost 7-8 years. I think that people don’t realise that just a joke online can turn into something so serious, I just think it is ridiculous how people have to act in such a way to one person. Jesy is as beautiful as a model and should never have felt the way she did all of those years ago. This could happen to anyone, it could happen to you, you need to know how to control it before it begins to control you. If there is nothing nice, there is nothing to say, so nothing can hurt..
